Restore Session

more options

I don't like how firefox treats sessions in the new versions. I mean in 3.6 I could easily restore a session, I could pick what pages/windows I don't like to be restored. And most importantly, I could keep more sessions. Example, lets say I have 10 tabs and I terminate firefox, next if I don't restore the tabs, I can keep that restoresession tab, and by following this I can have unlimited restore sessions so I can backup everything I need. So my question is: how can I change back to the old way firefox treated sessions. plus, I liked the 3.6 design better, though I managed to get a look that is very similar to 3.6, I just might go back to 3.6 just because of the restoresession thing.

Firefox only handles one session internally and you will have to use an extension to manage multiple sessions.

can you explain what means "use an extension to manage multiple sessions"

since ff auto updated to ver 19 it has been unstable and loses session data so i lose all tabs. this happens every 2 -3 weeks since update.

can i install an earlier version that handles multiple sessions? how do i do that?

If you want to manage multiple sessions then you need the above mentioned Session Manager extension.

You can open the previous session via "History > Restore Previous Session"
You can also try the about:sessionrestore page in Firefox to check which tabs and windows can be restored.

If Firefox crashes twice in a row, you do get a screen that shows all the windows and tabs that were recorded in your previous session and lets you choose which to restore. However, that screen doesn't come up in other situations. You can change a setting -- preventing automatic session restore -- so that it will appear after every crash if you like, but that still might not be the most common scenario for you.

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the filter box, type or paste resume and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes and set the value to 0. You're done in about:config.
