I have tried everything. I can not update Firefox because it won't open at all. I ran all my spyware and malware, deleted all my cookies, etc., made sure windows is update. After I did all that, and did all the scans and repairs, when I click on firefox, I still get the "crash reporter". The crash ID is the lastest one. Is there anything I can do or should I uninstall it and reinstall??

I reinstalled firefox yesterday, and it worked. Still working today. ya!

@AliceWyman I couldn't try in safe mode because all that would happen when I held the shift button and double clicked was, I'd get the crash report again. Thanks anyway.

I really don't know what happened, but its back up and running for now. Let's crossed our fingers, it doesn't happen again!!  :)

Thank you all for your help and suggestions.

Perform the suggestions mentioned below:

1) Restart your Windows in Safe Mode as described in the following article:

2) Uninstall Firefox as described in this article -> Uninstall Firefox from your computer

  • Restart your system

3) Is my Firefox problem a result of MALWARE ??

-> Do a MALWARE check with these Malware Scanning programs. You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. Make sure that you UPDATE each program to get the latest version of their Databases before doing a Scan. Also, Close All other Applications (softwares) before Starting to Run Scans.

-> Your Malware undetectable by most anti-malware programs (maybe because randomly named) may still be present and has other hidden symptoms, see this article -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backdoor_%28computing%29

-> After performing all the above steps, Restart your system.

4) Download latest Firefox version from the following link using some other Web Browser:

5) Install Firefox 12 as described in this article -> How to install Firefox on Windows

  • DON'T START FIREFOX YET

6) Create a New Firefox Profile as described in the following article:

Check and tell if its working.

7) IF that New Profile works then you can recover your History, Bookmarks and Passwords from the Old Profile.

I have done all of that. When I checked to see if it worked, it did. BUT, then I put my computer down and it went to sleep, like it should, and when I went back to it, Firefox gave me the same crash report again. Your response didn't say anything about if it doesn't work. So what do I do now?? I have already uninstalled it again and installed google chrome, which I am not finding to be any faster than internet explorer. I would really like my firefox back and working. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Can you post some more of your (if available) Crash IDs here ??

No, I'm sorry. I uninstalled firefox, again. I can try to install it again and see what happens.

That is all of them. I tried to reinstall firefox last night, but my internet connection wasn't good. That happens alot here. I am going to try again today.

Your Crash Reports contain 2 Crash Signatures:

Are you using Window XP SP1 or SP2 ??

Check and tell if its working after upgrading your Windows.

@amkm0712

Do you use CCleaner?

@mha007 I am using Windows 7. It just did an update yesterday or the day before (can't remember, but I know it was in the last 2 days).

@ExploitFate I use SpyBot Search and Destroy, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Advanced SystemCare 5 and Auslogics Disk Defrag. I haven't tried CCleaner.

and I also have Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

@amkm0712 Uncheck "Search Engines" Automatically update and test Firefox for crashes.

It was helpful for me

I didn't see anything useful in the two crash reports shown above. Have you tried the suggestions in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article, like trying to start in Firefox Safe Mode? (Hold down the shift key while double-clicking the Firefox icon, then click "Continue in Safe Mode" when the Firefox Safe Mode window appears).

If Firefox runs without crashing in Firefox Safe Mode, the problem could be hardware acceleration, which you can disable in the Advanced panel - Accessibility, browsing, network, updates, and other advanced settings in Firefox on the General tab. The problem could also be a problematic extension or theme, which you can check by disabling all extensions and using the default theme. See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems for details.

If Firefox still does not start in Firefox Safe Mode, see this article for other ideas:

You probably had a corrupted file in your Firefox install folder. This can sometimes be caused by an antivirus locking a file when it was trying to update and sometimes it's just random disk/download corruption. I'm glad it's working for you now.
