When using back button to return from a selected Google search result, how can I make the button return to the same position on the search result page rather than to the top of the search result page?

Situation: I use the Google search engine in Firefox, I scroll down a search result page and click to open a specific item. When I use the back button to return to the search result page, I am returned to the top of the page. This means to continue scanning the search result page I need to scroll back to the previously selected item. I do not now whether this only occurs with the Google search engine. BTW, I am using Firefox 6, but earlier versions have exhibited the same behavior.

Desired behavior: The back button returns to the previous position of the search result page.
