Why would I want to install the new Firefox if it will disable my antivirus software?

It says it will disable my antivirus. And then it doesn't give youo an option to not install. It just keeps bugging you to install it. Try fixing it before you release it.

No version of Firefox will disable or affect any antivirus software on computer on any OS including Windows, Mac OSX and Linux. This would have been a easily to discover issue in testing (7 betas just for release alone for example) if it was indeed what you though it was.

I take it you use either McAfee SiteAdvisor or Kaspersky extensions in Firefox? as the message would have been referring such a extension rather.

Kaspersky has a update to work with Firefox 5.0 http://www.kaspersky.com/support/kpm5?level=2

McAfee SiteAdvisor was blocked in Firefox 5.0 (and even in 4.0.*) due to being a top crasher and McAfee has been working on fixing it since end of May if not even as early as March. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/

Then why does Firefox say it will? When I attempted to install 5.0 it says it will disable MacAfee due to a conflict and will re-enable it when a solution is found.

You didn't read that message about exactly what was going to be disabled carefully enough. It said specifically that the McAfee SiteAdvisor extension was going to be disabled.

Yes, I know exactly what it said. Don't presume you know what I did! Site advisor is part of my anti-virus and I do not want it shut down.

First reply I was told:

"No version of Firefox will disable or affect any antivirus software on computer on any OS including Windows, Mac OSX and Linux. This would have been a easily to discover issue in testing (7 betas just for release alone for example) if it was indeed what you though it was. "

Well, I would say turning off a major function of the software is "Affecting" it. And it is exactly what I thought it was. Don't talk to me like I'm an idiot.

Well the disable message was indeed referring to the McAfee SiteAdvisor extension that was installed in Firefox (Tools->Addons->Extensions) and not even touching the completely separate McAfee software.

OK, now your answers are bordering on ridiculous. How can it be an extension of the software and not be part of it?

Yes, anything part of the software that I consider important is major. Now shut the hell up and get off the string because you don't know jack, are rude an useless.

This discussion is over. You people are rude, arrogant and useless.

I agree with pjdm. You come across as arrogant and rude. All these updates screwing everything up and it seems its our fault for not understanding what is going on. Nice one!

You claim the Firefox 5.0 will disable your McAfee software, well had you installed Firefox 5.0 that McAfee software would have still been fully functional for scanning your computer and such.

And I am the one being rude when I never verbally insulted anybody or told anybody to shut up and thinks I do not know what I am talking about like you did pjdm101.

Generally on forums if you be nice then people who are volunteers on here will be more then willing to help you but if you choose to be rude then very few if anybody will want to help you.

You know what since you decided to be rude, perhaps this thread needs to be closed and when you calm down you can politely ask the question again and hope the anybody who answers you never saw your rude responses in this thread.

Do not be surprised if the person who responds in new thread tells you the message was referring to the MacAfee extensions being disabled in Firefox due to being a top crasher and will not affect the separate McAfee software.

Since you probably never bother yo check out the last link in my first reply here you go. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/i25 What does this mean?

" The problematic add-on or plugin will be automatically disabled and no longer usable."
