Click the Firefox button, then Add-ons | Plugins and disable "BitDefender QuickScan"

Did that - havn`t worked. I thought that when I start in safe mode all add-ons are disabled, but it crashes anyway. And although now I have some add-ons intalled, it did crash on fresh installation as well.

Can you do the following please.

In the location bar, type: about:crashes and hit Enter. You'll get a list with random characters, but they're actually links. Can you post the link to the last one that caused the crash (right click, then "Copy Link Location", then CTRL+V to paste it into your next post).

Than You cor-el, I`ll do that, but checked this one before

https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20crashes

didin`t help, as most articles does not apply to me, cause mine firefox is freshly installed and crashes in safe mode. Sometimes I think that some windows components may cause crash, but I do not understand how firefox interacts with OS, so don`t know.

I probably should say, that firefox works fine, just shows Crash reporter on exit.

Thank You Xircal, but it didin`t change a thing. I created new profile, started firefox using that profile, ant instantly exited - same crash. Tried few times, with browsing as well - same thing :(

One thing I noticed, if it is more than one firefox window open, it doesn`t crash, until at least one window open. It crashes only after last window is closed.

Thank You all for Your time guys.

I think it would be a good idea if you performed a clean install. Any corrupt files which are on the system and are causing this problem will be replaced. It's a very simple process and you won't lose any bookmarks. Here's how.

Go to Download Firefox 4.0.1 and download to the desktop.

Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).

Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.

Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.

Hello, Xircal

Did exactly as You said, and nth changed :(

Although I did write from the start, that reinstallation even when deleting preferences and other, does not solve problem.

I would still think, that windows may cause this, maybe update or sth., never had such problems with firefox, although usually I do not update my win, but started to do so about month or two ago.

Noticed, that even when all exept download window are closed in firefox, it doesn`t crash. If You close download window it does crash.

Thanks

Which AV / security app do you use?

Please provide additional crash reports, the one you posted was inconclusive and provided nothing to attempt to diagnose it.

Xircal,

BitDefender Free Edition 2009

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

although in startup only Bitdefender is present, and it doesn`t have on-acess scaning, I think.

the-edmeister,

most crashes are like previous (...No thread was identified...), but I find one different:

Maybe update your AV. The 2009 edition of Bitdefender may have some flaws which prevent it from working properly with the newer FF4.

Update to the 2011 free version via http://www.bitdefender.com/world/solutions/free.html

Xircal,

They still only give 2009 version for free, though they don`t write that in their www. Still, I downloaded again (from Your link) and reinstalled BD, but nth changed again. Anyway, I think this problem came when I still was using Firefox 3.8.x, only then I updated to 4.0.1 expecting to solve problem. If You think, that BD may couse prob, I can uninstall it. I doubt it.

Thank You for try, may be some other will work

So I fed up — reinstalled windows. If anybody with similar problem would solve it, or find cause - would be interesting to know. I still think that mirco and soft updates caused that, or some virus/malware/etc. which was not detected by "award winning" bitdefender :) And thank You Xircal for Your time
