Ffox4/Win7 running in partition for trial connects ok in auto Avast and Win7 updates but I cannot access Internet manually via ethernet cable or wireless despite doing so ok in main Vista C: partition. help please

My main C:disk contains Vista Home Prem runs Ffox v3.6.15 ok wired & wireless to internet. using a partition drive with Win7 Home prem and Ffox v4 I cant access internet manually via same router with same ethernet cable or the wireless connection however my Avast and Win7 will automatically connect via ethernet cable to dload Avast def updates and Microsoft security updates no problem when I bootup with this partition drive.
