Problems copying bookmarks to new computer.

Installed to new system because old system was updated to Win11 and it failed. Old system is only partially operable. Trying to copy (export and import html files) of the bookmarks to the new system, but even though the import seems to have worked, I cannot get the program to show the bookmarks correctly (or at all). They appear in the Manage Bookmarks window but will not appear on the desktop view. What am I doing wrong? When I import them, I select the All Bookmarks item to copy to but it copies everything to the Bookmarks Menu folder.

Larry, within the library you can move the transferred bookmarks and folders to wherever you wish, if you don't want to keep them in the location that they were imported.

Standard techniques such as dragginng and dropping, cutting and pasting etc. will work for moving .items around within the bookmarks library.

P.S. The bookmarks toolbar in the main Firefox window shows the items that are stored in: All Bookmarks / Bookmarks Toolbar

So any bookmarks that you manually move into this location while in the library should appear in the toolbar.

If it is not currently visible, then you can show or hide the bookmarks toolbar in the main window by pressing ctrl+shift+b.

It turns out that I can move and copy the files, just have to do it manually. I found that the html file copy from my old system is complete, but when I copy the file from the thumb drive to the new system, it copies the whole file into the wrong location. Firefox still cannot "see" the information correctly. What has to be done is, 1) copy the file to the new Bookmarks Menu location. 2) go into the new file and separate the data into the correct folders using the old system setup as a guideline. 3) delete any old folders or files that are not in the proper location on the new system. This allows Firefox to recognize the bookmarks correctly and they appear on the page properly. Copying the whole html file puts everything in the Bookmarks Menu folder and Firefox can't read it.

Imported bookmarks often go straight to the Bookmarks Menu. To see them on the toolbar, either drag them manually from the manager, or adjust the toolbar view settings.
