Trying to install Thunderbird on a new computer, when I get to the "set up your existing email address" and fill in the information and click the "done" box. A dialogue box pops up and indicates:

You are about to override how Thunderbird identifies this site. Legitimate banks, stores, and other public sites will not ask you to do this. Location: ___________________________ Get Certificate This site attempts to identify itself with invalid information. Wrong Site The certificate belongs to a different site, which could mean that someone is trying to impersonate this site.

It then goes on asking if I want to make a security exception.

Is this a legitimate site for my Thunderbird install? I'm not very computer literate and concerned to make a mistake that could cause problems. Please help me with this as I need to get my email working on this computer. Thanks, Gary

Since you did not share any specifics on the email account, it would be difficult for anyone to respond.

Thanks David for responding to my post, but I really don't understand what the specifics on my email account would be? As I alluded to, I'm an old dog and this stuff is very difficult for me.

If you can point me in the correct direction I will try to provide the info.

The certificate issue is applying to your setting of an email account, so posting the domain of the account at least provides info so that if anyone here on forum is aware of that domain's certiicate, you may get a response. Lacking that, all we can say is that thunderbird does check certificates as you indicated. Seeing a screenshot of when the error appears may also help. Thank you
