Firefox 138 has a bug related to reopening the sidebar at startup. It is scheduled to be fixed in Firefox 140, which could also come to Firefox 139, but you'll need some kind of workaround until then. I'm not sure of the best approach, but you could check the following thread for further discussion:

Hi there! As mentioned above, the missing bookmarks sidebar issue will be resolved in the release of Firefox Version 139 -- this update will be available on May 27th. I hope this helps!
