Thunderbird is hanging since weeks

Aloha, I have been using Thunderbird since decades. Since a few weeks (or even months) by now, it is hanging all the time. Meanwhile it is totally impossible to use it properly. Whenever I klick on something it hangs itself up and I have to wait at least a minute until I can click something else and then it hangs again.

I already tried reinstalling, but that didnt change anything. Of course I also rebooted the computer.

Why is that so and what can be done?

That ain t much to figure out what is really going on with that cause or issue of continuous freezing on that Win pc ? Or is it just some hanging of the system?yes,oke.Things could go up to real bad sometimes with the software or system. Tell me what it means or what is the regular stuff ?the anti virus is? You have to give some a bit more information if that is possible ofcourse . Can you get into the inbox?

No, it is Thunderbird only that is freezing Yes, I can go into the in box, but as I said, every step I take there causes freezing and I have to wait at least a minute until it unfreezes only to be repeated by the next step I take

Yes we can fix this issue.


In Windows defender you go to the scan options for the defender real time scanner and create a exemption for that thunderbird profile map. So defender do not have to scan that profile map for you. And you won t be secured less on that pc.

Why is this situation ? You probably like to use the option cleanboot for the operating system. So you can start up clean.

So it can startup minimal without the blocking files or software. Remove possible blocking software if found .

the processor s work that is what it makes it all slower in and on that pc also the ram in combination of Window defender , it ask s a lot of it power there. There was an update that could have caused it. Older versions of antivirus that you do not know of has expired and still there. Defender had updates and left you there .

So all further process that is or are arround that moment is getting you lower and lower in that situation of freezing. Try to fix and configuratie as it has to be and get it back there again.

I might do have gave you valid information and a hint to the fix of it. But what really is freezing that Thunderbird version ? Do you use the latest version of Thunderbird on that pc?

I tried the thing with Defender and making the thunderbird profile an exemption from scanning: did not help.

Yes, I do have the latest versions of thunderbird and defender.

I will try start in minimal modus now, but what then?

Hello there

Clean the pc is a must to do. Using the safe modus program for Windows and trouble shoot mode for Thunderbird to.

Both option are useful and worthily .

Try to replace or erase big software programs or detect disturbing program s. Search for bad add ons with the trouble shoot mode for Thunderbird and search for that blocking and outdated software to use the delete option for them in safe mode for windows .

Clean up the pc with cccleaner trail to download from Google search. Empty that inbox and also ssd s or hdd s from to much files. And so on.

Replace some Ram if that is possible .
