I just installed Thunderbird. Emails are being downloaded again and again (and again). I have work to do. Is there quick fix? This was a standard install using IMAP: are the emails still on the server?

Yes, they're still on the server. Thunderbird is sync'ing the messages to the PC.

Are you saying that the same messages are downloaded repeatedly? Into the inbox? Into other folders? Are you getting multiple copies of messages? After you have moved them or deleted them in Thunderbird?

You say this is an IMAP account, but talk about it as if it was POP…
