Firefox PDF viewer shipping label barcodes are bad

more options

When I use the firefox 104.0.1 pdf viewer to print shipping labels they look fine in the preview but when I print them the barcodes are missing all the small lines and where it says P or F up in the top left box it just prints some block looking thing. Prints fine from Adobe or Preview. Mac Big Sur .

Did you try the free Adobe Reader to open and print to see how if it does different.

Yes like I said reader and preview work fine. But I print a lot of labels and it saves a file every time.

if they are pdf Adobe Reader will be a better option to print them since it can open and do a better job since it was made for pdf files.

Yes I know all my options. You're missing the point... it worked fine up until like 3 updates ago. Firefox needs to fix it.

Like I said firefox is a basic pdf reader Browser for more functions and avoiding issue is to use Adobe Reader that is dedicate to pdf files program. As anything saving pdf and printing is the better alternative to avoid printing issues since it only you using it and no other people are using the system.

Sorry, yes, Firefox 103-104 for Mac has a bug with PDFs that contain embedded images or which consist of one huge image. The image is not scaled correctly, so this happens:

  • Embedded images: the image is enlarged within its original boundaries and much of it gets lost
  • Entire PDF is an image: the image flows off the page regardless of what kind of scaling you try

There is a bug on file for this, and hopefully there will be a fix in Firefox 105.

For now, you can open the PDFs in Preview or Acrobat for printing. Here's how to do it on a one-by-one basis:

  • For PDFs that show an https:// address, use the download button on the viewer toolbar to save it.
  • For PDFs that show a file:/// address, click the Downloads button on the toolbar, right-click (Ctrl+click) the item, and open in Preview/Acrobat/System Viewer (the display may vary).

If this is a frequent problem, you can change the way Firefox handles PDFs by default to either ask how you want to open the PDF or just automatically open it in Preview or Acrobat. This support article has the details: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/view-pdf-files-firefox-or-choose-another-viewer
