Tab repeatedly opening on log in

Have registered and tried to log in with an insurance provider. Usual stuff - email, then password. In Firefox it keeps opening new tabs repeatedly - forever if I let it. I have to close the browser to stop it!

Have tried to do the same thing via Microsoft Edge, and it works just fine, so I'm not stuck, but it does seem to be the browser. I usually, and would have, put this url into a container, but, as stated, it just keeps opening a new tab at the rate of about 1 a second!

Have tried opening other exisiting bookmarks in Firefox and they work just fine.

Have tried Settings/Privacy and Security/Clear Data Have tried CCleaner. Have tried restart.
