Firefox trying to login to OLD account when I enter CURRENT one

more options

I just fired up a computer I have not used in like 6 months.

I tried to login to my CURRENT Firefox account which I use with 3 devices.

I go through the email + password + verification process but when I finally enter the verification code (sent to the RIGHT email address) Firefox says "wrong password" and shows an OLD email I used to use.

I changed this email twice at least in the past 1+ years so I am not sure what's happening.

In case of issues with Sync you can try this:

Disconnect from Sync and Reconnect to Sync again. You can disconnect from Sync by clicking the e-mail address in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list or go to "Options/Preferences -> Sync".

Delete the signedInUser.json file in the Firefox profile folder and delete the Weave folder (Sync was formerly named Weave) with Firefox closed.

Remove an existing chrome://FirefoxAccounts entry in the Firefox Password Manager.

If that isn't enough then delete the prefs.js files to reset all prefs and maybe also delete the compatibility.ini file.

You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

If that still fails then try to create a new profile.

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Before seeking for help, I used the Windows popup tool to delete the only profile I saw before creating a new one.

However, this solution did not work UNTIL I physically went to the profiles folder and deleted ALL old profiles that were still there.

It was one of your suggestions what ended up lighting a bulb in my head!

Many thanks, friend. :)
