Hello. If I sign out of this site, then sign back in, I am not asked to re-enter my password. I just have to select my Firefox Account name.

How can I stop this so that if I log out, next time I (or anyone who accesses my PC) try to sign into this page, I will need to supply a password?

Only someone with acess to your computer user account will be able to do that. Except for very secured websites (banks, stores . . .) mus of us don't sign out. This forum for example.

Your ‘logged-in’ status is stored in special cookies. If the cookie is removed, you are logged out.

You may be in Private Browsing mode or told Firefox not to remember.

Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar. The button next to History, select Use Custom Settings.

Turn off Always Use Private Browsing Mode Turn on Remember My Browsing And Download History At the bottom of the page, turn on Clear History When Firefox Closes. At the far right, press the Settings button. Turn on Cache and Form And Search History and whatever else you want.

Macs: Make sure you install Firefox properly and that you do not run Firefox from within the DMG (Disk Images) file. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Hi TechHorse, I assume Firefox's built-in password manager (Lockwise) is filling the password. You could try one of these:

Are you possibly using Sync as that uses the same Firefox account as this forum ?

I managed to fully sign out of this page by visiting the Firefox Account Settings page at https://accounts.firefox.com and signing out of everything there.

Next time I tried to sign in to this site I was asked for a password, which is what I wanted.

Problem is, since I signed back in to this site I then once again can't fully log out of it. If I log out all that happens is that next time I log in I just have to select my account, with no subsequent prompts for passwords.

Thanks for responses, but clearing history and cookies at logoff seems a bit overkill! I am also not using sync.

If that is just the way this site works I can live with it! I just prefer to be able to easily fully log out of sites (so that a password would be needed to re-sign in), for greater security. But no real problem.
