Hello Mozilla Community,

I was hoping someone could help me with a major screw up that I've made.

A week ago,I performed a Windows System Restore because I was having internet connection issues.I was hoping that my default settings would fix this.Well, when I tried to go to Firefox(my default browser),my bookmarks were all gone.I had read about a suggested move of the about;profiles on Firefox solution. When I tried this, there were only two additional profiles on my page and they were over 2 years old.I also tried going through the ShowAllBookmarks/Import And Backup/Restore method and it was the same results(old versions that were over 2 years old).I know Firefox had created a bookmarks folder in my computer files titled Old Firefox Data but that has the same result also(old bookmarks profile from over 2 years ago).

Also, when I first tried to access Firefox after the System Restore,I was asked to sign in to Firefox.I don't ever remember writing down a password for Firefox so I created a new one.I was hoping that my bookmarks would somehow automatically restore themselves but it didn't happen. Is it safe to assume that with my new password reset that I'm not able to access my old profile with all my bookmarks from two days ago? So basically,it currently looks like all my bookmarks are gone from the last 2 years.I've tried many tutorials and videos but it all leads to my only getting access to my 2 year old bookmarks.

Last,I looked into a recovery tool that I found while browsing a help forum. It just gave me a free trial run and scanned my computer for recovery files. When looking for the Places:Sqlite files(old bookmarks), I noticed that the scan produced some recovery files from Mozilla Firefox that were only a few months old.I tried to search for them on my computer but nothing is recognized through my Windows Start button search.I was also advised to use RECUVA to recover old files that have been deleted.I also tried this and saw many old Mozilla/Firefox recovery files but couldn't find any that had Bookmarks in the file description. And when I do find a 'places.sqlite' file, every time I try to open it with Firefox it just keeps opening up a new window and never opens the file.

In closing, any of your expertise would be greatly appreciated because I'm completely stumped and frustrated. Please let me know if there's anything that you can help me with.

Thank you for your time
