As a tab addict who likes to pick up where I left off, I have Firefox set to open previous tabs on start up. Today, I opened Firefox to a single new tab. None of the dozen or so tabs I had open yesterday appeared and the theme shown as Enabled (a leaf pattern) is not what's displayed (plain blue coloring).

I looked at about:profiles to check whether this was a different profile and if I could revert to one that contained yesterday's session. No luck, the few listed did not contain my previous tab session and settings. Interestingly, in my D:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles there was a profile that didn't appear on the about:profiles page but it also did not contain my most recent session.

When I look at the folder of the current active profile, there are no files in its root and the subfolders within the profile contain very few files.

Quite simply, it appears as if the profile I was using was mostly deleted. (see screenshot) Given that I closed the browser and then shut down the computer normally last night, how does this happen?? Is there any way to get my previous tabs back?

I should also note that there's no "Restore previous session" menu option in my browser as shown in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-previous-session. My Firefox is version 80.

(My apologies if this query is under the wrong topic heading. Mods, please move accordingly.)
