Does not matter what it is word file, picture, program. The download starts, Firefox goes gray and crashes.....

I just got a new computer and i thought this problem would go away, but it is still present. It is becoming EXTREMELY frustrating. I love Firefox and have used it for a long time but this issue is making it very difficult.

So i believe this turned out to be a Windows 10 problem and not a Firefox problem. For some reason Windows would lose connectivity to the internet and the error was showing as "Windows could not automatically detect this networks settings" after running the Windows Troubleshooter. I believe this could be do to an update error with a driver or a bad driver or missed update. Regardless I believe it is resolved now and i just need to be careful not to install a bad driver or at least if it shows up again i know i have to fix the connectivity issue.

THE ISSUE WAS NOT FIREFOX (WHEW), i am very loyal to Firefox so i would have hated to leave it.

TLDR: This is a possible fix for this type of problem, run widows troublershooter (right click over wi-fi/ethernet sign on taskbar). And fix the problem the trouble shooter finds.

Thank you everyone!

”Webpage is slowing down your browser” This is the new way the browser tells you there is a problem with the script program(s). https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/warning-unresponsive-script?cache=no

It says "no crash reports have been submitted". May be crash was the wrong word to use, i eventually have to force end Firefox, if i do not it just stays gray, i cannot click anything. I have waited over 15 minutes one time.

That could be a lockup or freeze.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

MemTest LAST UPDATED : 27/09/2013
Could you please run a tool from http://memtest.org/
in order to check the integrity of your RAM?

You will need a thumb or disk drive to install it on.

Do you let Windows handle the page file or did you set a fixed size ?
If you use a fixed size for the page file then try the former and let Windows handle the page file.

thank you for trying to help.

I re-installed my operating system, but i am sure this problem will return again. So i will look into your solution if that happens. Honestly i do not know why this problem would occur from my old PC to a completely brand new PC. It just does not make sense. I am suspecting it has something to do with my sync'd FireFox account which could be "carrying" over the problem. I only sync'd bookmarks and logins, no extensions or anything else from my old computer to this new one.

Will post here again once the problem shows up again on the new system reinstall.

What security software do you have ?

It is possible that (anti-virus) security software is causing the problem.
Try to disable security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference.

i use the generic Microsoft anti-virus that comes with the system. I think they just call it Windows Virus & Threat protection now. I am re-installed the operating system on my new computer and right now just running Firefox without syncing my profile. So far so good, but i am sure it will surface back up again once i sync my old profile from my older computer.
