Hello, Sin Shadow Fox

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Also I would hope that it goes without saying but any responses suggesting Resets/Nukes (Like what RobertJ said) will be ignored and reported.

This is a Firefox Support forum. Extensions are 3rd party software, chosen by the User, to use in addition to Firefox. Refer to the Author of the 3rd party software that you are using for support.

First off it was a firefox update that caused the issue and most likely other users are having the same problem. I just posted first.

Second off people like you whos first and only solution to problems is to nuke it away are not helpful and if you post one more thing here that isn't genuinely helpful to the people having this problem i will report you. If you know specifically whats causing the problem or have a good idea as to what it is. Great. Feel free to share what you know. If you just want to be heard and have nothing to add to figuring this out then don't post.

You can report whatever you like.

You have a problem with your extensions, not with Firefox. I can get Firefox working for you - even if it means deleting your passwords and bookmarks - those are User added, also.

Refresh Firefox. Add your extensions again. See if the problem is resolved.

if not, I can take you to the next level of diagnostics.

@ Sin Shadow Fox  :

With all due respect, but if anybody needs to be reported, it's you.

Reported for being rude and disrespectful to RobertJ, who took the time to try and help you.

No i don't. my extensions were working fine until the update and this is not the first time firefox has been broken by an update so don't pretend that the problem is with the extensions. And you can consider yourself reported. I'm not going to tolerate people who have nothing to better to do than give people grief.

I'm not being disrespectful or rude by trying to keep people like RobertJ from getting in the way of people who are ACTUALLY trying to figure out and solve this problem. I see people like RobertJ everywhere who don't want to do the work but still want to get the recognition for "helping" and this is not the place for that. I already gave him an opportunity to join the discussion and warned him in advance that his attention seeking would not be tolerated and quite frankly was far more polite about it than i could have been (honestly I've about reached the end of my patients with people like him) so please don't jump to his defense.

moderator chiming in here: the report abuse feature is only intended for violations of our Mozilla Support rules and guidelines (spam, threats and other unacceptable content).

if you are not content with an answer you have the "not helpful" button as remedy - but better just reply why it didn't work/help to keep the dialog constructive.

I believe RobertJ broke the Language and conduct rule with all four posts, especially that last one where he said i could rot.

all the posts that are still up here did not break any rules - please note again that there is a difference between an answer you dislike and one that's breaking our forum rules.

since i assume there is little chance that something productive will still develop out of this existing thread, i'm going to lock it. feel free to start fresh and re-post your question & everyone please keep a constructive attitude.
