I can not access Freep.com or Detnews.com without the page crashing within seconds of getting there. Here are the recent crashes:

Out of memory issue. You can try to higher up the virtual memory on OS.

Also read Firefox's performance settings and lower the content process limit to 4 or 2.

Best is always to let the OS (Windows) manage the page file instead of setting a fixed size. What is the current size of the Page file?

Maybe also reboot more often if you let the computer running for a long time (sleep/hibernate) or log in and log out to cleanup memory fragmentation and see whether you can run les applications at the same time

3509 MB. I figured I probably needed to restart my browser. This just hadn't happened before. Is this Firefox version using more memory than recent past versions?

This is more about memory fragmentation where not a large enough block contiguous memory is available (System Memory Use Percentage : 78).

Do you keep Firefox running for longer times without closing or do you close and restart Firefox regularly ? Do you have a lot of other software running at the same time ?

Websites with a lot of large images can use a lot of memory for the uncompressed images.

Did you already try to reduce the number of content processes like suggested above ?

Just crashed again, and this is very early in the session after I rebooted my whole computer:

The previous session I'd had it opened for quite awhile and had scrolled a large amount of twitter. But this time it crashed almost immediately, even after the restart and defrag.

BTW, I just tried to downgrade to the previous version, but they won't let me start Firefox with my current profile.

The weird thing is that sites like youtube are giving me no problems. Just the newspapers I read. I think they are Gannett websites, and as far as I can tell, nothing has changed about them.

EDIT: Cleaned out all system files and such. Just started browser and went right to a newspaper website:

I tried accessing freep.com, detnews.com, and lsj.com on Internet Explorer, and things worked just fine. I also did a disk clean-up including system files, defragged and ran malware programs and such just to make sure there weren't any viruses or anything.

I will try reinstalling/cleaning-up the installation for Firefox 70.0.1 and see if that works. It was weird that it just stopped working on those sites all of a sudden. This is JUST at Gannett media sites.

EDIT: Nope, that didn't work.

Oh, it appears that these pages load just find on Google Chrome, too. So Internet Explorer and Google Chrome load the pages without crashes. It's only Firefox, now, where I can't access them.

Just updated to v.71.0. I was able to get through LSJ.com and almost through Freep.com before it crashed:

bp-b101a9fd-9b2b-4220-958d-14c8c0191203

Getting through most of Freep.com was difficult. Hitting every new page hung for about 7 or so seconds before loading them and then it was choppy. On all three of these sites, it seems that when scrolling down the homepage they seem to get caught on the ads in the header and on the right side of the page. These ads are even moving graphics or videos. And here is the crash when almost making it through reading my articles for the day on Detnews.com:

bp-b2caa67d-3f54-4444-baf7-794180191203

I suspect both of these are virtual memory issues like all the others. I'm still confused why I don't seem to have problems of websites that are significant more graphic-intensive like Youtube or Twitter. I realize I have an old OS, but it works just fine with these other sites that use more of my OS juices. Why is it getting caught on this particular Gannett Media page formats?

That last crash report is also an OOM crash. The System Memory Use Percentage isn't quite high (69%) and that would suggest memory fragmentation.

Available Virtual Memory : 141,733,888 bytes (141.73 MB)
Available Page File : 3,988,701,184 bytes (3.99 GB)
Available Physical Memory : 1,128,316,928 bytes (1.13 GB)
System Memory Use Percentage : 69
OOM Allocation Size : 706,200 bytes (706.2 KB)

Are you visiting pages with a lot of images on them ? If you open a lot of tabs with many images then the memory usage can increase considerably.

Did you try to reduce the number of content processes to 2 or 1 ?

The lags you experience might be caused by Windows swapping memory to the page file. Once you get so low on available physical memory that swapping to the page file occurs then this slows down everything very much.

I've given you the three websites I'm going to when these crashes happen. You can check them to see if you think it's a "lot of images." Again, it's certainly less graphic usage than when I go to Youtube, and I was having ZERO problems with these websites prior to version 70.0.1 being rolled out.

I guess I'll mess around with the "content processes," next.

Just had an entire browser crash unrelated to the sites above:

bp-c5d6bf69-dcf5-47ad-8407-771300191205

Only had two tabs opened at the time.

Is this a virtual memory crash, too? I wonder if all of this might have to do with relatively recent Windows updates or if the two most recent versions of Firefox are simply up to using what my old OS can't handle, anymore. Just trying to game everything out. I've noticed that since July it appears Firefox has been leaving stuff in my %temp% folder that is unable to be deleted. That wouldn't have anything to do with this would it?
