"Important News" on first launch
How can I stop the "Important News" page on first launch of a new version Firefox ESR? Yes I know it only once but I want to suppress that notice/check page from opening. I have gone from version 60.9.0 to 68.2.0 I figured out the majority of the settings I needed to make in about:config using a mozilla.cfg file. Operating System: Windows 10 Browser: Firefox EST 68.2.0
What I tried: in my mozilla.cfg I added:
pref("browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone","ignore");
But that did not work. I still see the "Important News" and I see that setting in my about config. Trouble shooting this is taking time having to roll back my VM every time :(
I also set the browser to not search for updates with: lockPref("browser.search.update", false);

If there aren't any profiles (profiles.ini is missing) and a default profile needs to be created you won't get such notifications. If you update an existing profile then you will get this page on first launch.

Hi Old_Navy_Guy, I don't know how you can avoid the "you've updated" page.
But I did want to mention that the browser.search.update preference is not related to Firefox program updates, it is related to search engine updates. On the Options page, it's the checkbox labeled "Automatically update search engines".
Those hardly ever update, so I think it's okay to set Firefox not to check them.
Dumb question: is there a document that lists all the setting in About:config and what the setting does and what the options are?

Not as far as I know.
Any ideas what Firefox looks for, as in what it checks for to trigger the "Important News" notice? I noticed that I do not get the notice when installed on a VM that has never had Firefox installed. Maybe I can delete the check as part of the install?

I forgot to mention that "Important News" is about:newinstall on the newer releases of Firefox. It is an unrecognized command in version 60.9
I did try the following in a VM with no success. New VM > Install FF60.9 > Launch FF60.9 > Uninstall FF60.9 > Reboot VM > Install FF 68.2.0 > Launch FF68.2.0 > I get an error that indicates my mozilla.cfg file is corrupt. NOTE: The same FF 68.2.0 install fine on a clean VM and via SCCM.
Any ideas to try?
