I found the question here... https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1051847

..., but the steps include selecting/clicking on something I don't seem to have. Also, I believe I had the folder named correctly the majority of times, & have no clue how it became this incorrect name.

The Library is the bookmarks manager (Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks).

In the Details panel you see properties like Name and Location of the currently selected item. In all other cases you need to use the right-click context menu and open the Properties in this drop-down menu.

That is a rather old support article to use. The OP there was posting about Firefox 36 and Firefox received massive changes with Firefox 57 Quantum.

That said, the routine has changed much once you get into the Bookmarks Sidebar using {Ctrl + B} or from the Menu Bar using Alt to reveal the Menu Bar and then viewing the Bookmarks menu drop-down. the "massive changes" lie elsewhere in the UI.

The "trick" is to use Properties from the contextual menu in the Sidebar and the Menu Bar drop-down.

Now, if a bookmark folder name seems to be changing on its own, are you using Sync? If so, perhaps there is a bit of corruption in the Places Database.

You can open Help > Troubleshooting Information and then scroll down to Places Database > Integrity and use the Verify Integrity button; then wait for the report to appear (typically in less than a minute depending upon how many bookmarks you have).

There are various ways to rename a bookmarks folder. In the Bookmarks Manager (Library) you can select the folder in the left panel and edit the name in the Details area at the bottom of the right panel.

In the sidebar and on the Bookmarks Toolbar and in some Bookmarks Menu drop-down lists you can do this via the right-click context menu in the Properties of the bookmark. Note that you can only rename folder that you created yourself and not builtin root folders and items in a query result list.

Have my library open, selected the one I wished to rename, & see no right panel (unless you mean the list), & also no are marked anything like "Details".

I am POSITIVE it's one I created myself, but I see no Properties area, nor anything resembling "rename" when I rt.-click it.

1] Looked at my "Library," & see nothing named/reading anything like "Details".

2] Edit: Seconds later, still see nothing with that title, but found a way to change name anyway, & the change finalized despite no visible way to take that action.

1] On the one hand, I notice it was your response that led me to what fixed my problem initially.

2] On the other, I notice I already edited my last reply to state that... Know when to quit/be quiet.
