FireFox on Windows won't stay logged in and therefore can't sync. How do I fix this?

In the past few days I started using FireFox and have had a seamless experience on my Mac laptop and Android-based phone. I can log into my FireFox browser on those devices and everything syncs.

However, on my HP Windows laptop, when I successfully log into FireFox, it attempts to sync (never does) and then logs me out. It prompts "Reconnect to Sync" and says "please sign in to reconnect to [my email]." When I re-enter my password, it successfully logs in (I get an email telling me so) but then fails.
