Fresh install of Quantum gives grey whites on screen

When I install Firefox Quantum from scratch, the whites on the screen are grey-ish, so that they are dim and muted.

If I copy over all my old Firefox files from both the user local and roaming files, then the colors are fine. What file is it that I need to adjust to get better contrast and light whites for a fresh install?
