If it just froze and you had to shut it down do not send but if it went poof and gone please send your crash report : Make sure to include the bp- as in the picture please :

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

I have already submitted the crash report pkshadow as stated in my inital message. Crash ID 31cbf8d6-7f5a-4a0c-b709-2278e1180709 has been submitted.

cor-el My concern is that this should never occur for google site as it is always secure. I will try the web console and network monitor next time to see if it provides light on the problem.

I should add that I only have one add on" ublock origin" but since the issue disappeared immediately after open a new window I dont think it could be a culprit.

Can you please give the proper crash report as was mentioned : Make sure to include the bp- as in the picture please

more options

No, it shouldn't happen and that is why you need to check out what is going on.

You can try to inspect the certificate and possibly check the issuer via "Tools -> Page Info -> Security". There is more detail on the Security tab in the Network Monitor for the main HTML file (first item in the list; you probably need to refresh via F5).

Hi, if you notice in your pic of the certificate the top is for *.google.com so it is giving you the sub-domains certificate.

Also in your log in your message nothing refers to google.com but of sub-domains.

The crash report you submitted : shows crash reason as : pthread_mutex_lock | -[NSRecursiveLock unlock] When searched this comes up in a Apple forum and the people there are telling them to do a ant-virus scan and to remove Sophos A/V. Then all the sites after that that reference the site as the crash reason are untrustworthy or want you to download a file as soon as click on the link.

So with that info please start here : https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/

Hi *.google.com is normal for youtube.com. I was getting the lock symbol with the caution in the bottom right corner.

The problem is google.com is always secure (full green lock) something broke that.

I have malware software and it id not find any problems. Can you provide the Apple site reference for the malware that possibly causes firefox so loose Secure connectivity?

Are you possibly using Private Browsing mode?

Cross origin security errors can be caused by blocking cookies for some essential domains, so maybe check that in case you aren't allowing cookies or use extensions that deal with cookies (blocking content).

more options

I am using private browsing. But I was allowing cookies for youtube. I do not understand what you mean by extensions.

I was simply viewing a youtube video and sometime between watching different videos the security lock changed.

Can firefox be forced to start communications with a web site using only https first then http?

I don't think there is a setting for that. Also, Google instructs browsers never to use HTTP for its sites, so that would override anything like that.

Usually the yellow warning triangle indicates "mixed display content" -- images retrieves via HTTP addresses into an HTTPS page -- but your list of console messages didn't mention mixed content. Another possible cause is using a cached page, but private windows do not use the regular window cache. Hmm...

Does the lock go back to normal if you reload bypassing the cache? You can do that by either:

  • Hold down the Shift key while clicking the Reload button
  • Press Command+Shift+r

I'm not sure what uBlock Origin is doing that might contribute to this issue, but if it is clearly the culprit, try one of their support avenues:

What are the possible reasons for Firefox to change from Https on a well known site like youtube?

Please Copy/Paste about:addons into the Address Bar then Enter. Extensions are listed here, please list them in your reply.

What Security Software are you running please list it in your reply ?

You said you had malware program what is it please ?

Why not do a Refresh ?

please try a Refresh but Note that this does more than uninstalling and re-installing does. Normal uninstalling does not remove some preferences which may have become corrupt. Please Refresh but do this 1st: Delete your Cookies and Cache and TEST.

Any response to my comments here: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1225060#answer-1139552

What are the possible reasons for Firefox to change from Https on a well known site like youtube?

I don't understand this question. Firefox will not change from HTTPS to HTTP on YouTube.

more options

I am not using a Memory resident virus protection. I have changed my only extension from ublock origin to ad block plus to see if this problem disappears.

youtube videos will occasionally change from https to non secure as shown in my attachment. This occurs after youtube jumps to an auto play next video randomly.

So the address bar shows HTTPS but for some reason Firefox believes the connection is not secure. When that happens, if you view the Page Info dialog's Security tab, is there any additional information on the lower section?

You can call that up using any of these:

  • right-click a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security
  • (menu bar) Tools menu > Page Info > Security
  • click the padlock or "i" icon to the left of the site address, then the ">" icon, then More Information

There is a "Technical Detail" section which commonly describes the connection to the site. Example screenshot attached.

more options

No. It intialy show https then changes to not secure for another youtube video. this occurs randomly and if I open another Firefox window for the same youtube video it starts up as https.

It appears as ifFirefox is interrupting something or missing a communications that prevents it from seeing the current valid https site as https. I will view the certificate in more details the next time it occurs.

Keeping in mind I have changed my extension to add block plus.

There are two items about mixed content.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

You can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
