Due to operating system changes I had two Profiles without an active installed version of Thunderbird. So

1. I installed a new version of Thunderbird.

2. I copied the mail from the profile with the most messages into the new default profile. I started Thunderbird and I can access all this old email. 3. Now I want to add the messages in another profile to the messages that are in my new profile. The default profile now has an inbox with about 4000 messages. Another profile on another hard drive has about 300 messsages, which are actually newer chronologically than what is in the new default profile. How do I add the 300 into the bigger inbox in order to end up with one inbox that contains 4300 messages. I tired to ask something like this a while back and while I appreciated the answer (sorry to not get back to you), I did not understand how to do what was proposed: modify my profile to point to another profile. I don't need to do anything that complicated. I don't want two profiles. I don't want two inboxes that appear together but are actually separate. I want to suck the messages from one inbox into another inbox and then delete the profile with the smaller inbox altogether. I tried Tools-Import but that did not look like what I want at all. I've read several support answers for more complex things that I don't want to do but not found one for what I do want to do. Thanks.

drduncan How can I do what I want please?

You do this in several steps.

  1. Install this add-on: https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/mboximport-en.html
  2. Import the folders you want. For now, you should import them to Local Folders, or subfolders in Local Folders.
  3. Then move the imported messages to where you want them.

Thanks for your suggestion. That link did not work for me. However, in searching for it, I came across the importexport add-on on the Thunderbird support site. I installed that but I could not get it to recognize my inbox when I pointed the program to my inbox. I used the add-on's file navigation to get to my smaller inbox but clicking on it proved nothing. It did not import the messages.
