Bing has hijacked my Browser! How do I get regular Firefox back? I do not have any extensions and I don't see any of the mentioned offending programs listed? I have made sure every setting I can find has Firefox and the default browser. Help!

Hello, Now just to clarify it is bing.com not bing. (something else) is that correct ? If just Bing.com try these and get back as to solved or not, Thank You

It's Bing.com whenever I click on a new tab. I want my regular Firefox window to come up instead. If I switch to Firefox in Safe Mode, my new tabs open correctly. In regular mode they open to Bing.com. How do I fix this?

Have you followed the 2 links and read to see if that helps you  ?

Yes, I checked the two links but both of them are talking about the search bar in Firefox which I can't get to. My whole new page is Bing.com, I don't get a search bar.

This is what I get when I click on a new tab. Not my Firefox page.

I have my menu bar, I guess what I am trying to get back is my Firefox homepage. Does that make better sense? I will post a picture of what I want my page to look like again.

This is what I need back.

When you open a New Tab far right side top of blank page there should be a gear looking thing called New Tab Controls, control for last pic is there.

Can try going to the far right top and click Menu Options then the gear icon (Options} delete the Bing page and let us know. Restart Firefox

This is not a fix I am sure but give it a try

OK. I click on new tab and get the Bing.com page. I then click on the house Icon to get to my firefox homepage. I clicked on the gear icon in the top RH corner and changed it to show blank page. I then clicked on Open Menu icon and Gear icon and made sure under Search that there is no Bing listed in either Default or One-Click Search Engines. Restarted Firefox. And I still get Bing.com when I click on a new tab. Boo.

If it helps, everything was fine until I downloaded 7-Zip today, then my Firefox went away. I have since deleted 7-Zip but cant seem to find anything else in program files that came along with it.

This is really shooting to kill here but since seem to happen after installing a program please read and run : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware

It could have been you missed a option when installing to make Bing your homepage. Must read any and all installers for hidden gems like that. Could also try a registry cleaner if no malware/adware turns up.

It probably is a fix within Firefox : give this a try: after the above.

Remember to keep a copy of this to revert changes if need to. It is also wise to keep a copy of your profile, bookmarks and passwords before attempting any fix's.

Description

The browser.startup.page Preference in Firefox's about:config interface allows the user to specify which Web page(s) is opened when their browser is initially launched. How to Use browser.startup.page

The value of browser.startup.page can be set to one of four integers: 0, 1, 2, or 3. When this Preference is set to 0, a blank page (about:blank) is opened upon launch. The default value, which is set to 1, causes Firefox to open whatever page(s) is set as the browser's homepage. When the value is set to 2, the Web page that the user last visited is opened. Finally, when the value is set to 3, the user's previous browsing session is restored.

To modify the value of browser.startup.page, follow these steps:

   Open your Firefox browser.
Type about:config in your browser's address (or URL) bar.
   Hit Enter.
A list of Firefox Preferences should now be displayed. Locate the entry with a Preference Name value of browser.startup.page.
Double click on this entry. A dialog box should appear prompting you to enter an integer value.
Enter the desired value (0, 1, 2, or 3) and click on the OK button.

My integer is at 1. And all the setting I know to check are set at Firefox being homepage. When I click on a new tab, Bing comes up but then if I click on the house icon in the top RH corner, my regular Firefox homepage comes up. I guess this is how Im going to have to live now, just two clicks to get to my homepage. Ive checked to see if there was anything behind the Target in Properties of Firefox and there is nothing there either. I guess this is beyond me.
