Firefox won't accept https pages - constant error messages - can't log in anywhere.
Running Windows 10 on HP Pavilion Desktop, Firefox stopped allowing any access to https pages 5 days ago. Constant immediate error messages, sometimes "Secure Connection Failed", sometimes "Connection timed out".
(I am posting this from an old Windows 7 Computer ( I can't from the Windows 10 one as I can't log in on it - no chance of syncing it).
I have Kapersky and contacted them and not Kapersky problem. Did clean resintalls of Firefox. No Joy. Tried old versions of Firefox. No Joy.
Hired a techie geek, they spent 8 hours trying to get it to work. We tried everything in this link plus more https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems
Really don't want to try a System Restore. Am I doomed to Chrome?

Hi there, just to answer some of you questions. Since the issue started about a week ago, could you see if any Windows updates have been installed around that time, either using Windows Update logs or the regular Windows Event logs?
No updates just before it started happening.
Does the affected system have all Windows updates installed anyway, or perhaps NOT installed a recent update that was installed on another system? (Thinking of some required combination - this will take some searching and comparing.)
Yes, all updates are up to date on all computers.
Sorry for asking once again, but are you absolutely sure there is no other security related software involved, even if it’s just a tiny piece of it, like Defender?
Absolutely sure, Kapersky did a thorough system check and had me remove all sorts of stuff.
And, does the system happen to have Microsoft Family Safety set up? If so, try switching it off. (Found this here).

Microsoft support spent around 4 hours doing all sorts of stuff in dark places on my computer and checking networks, certificates, etc. I did see them going into the Mozilla support forum every now and then. It was just at the very last second before they were going to bump it to a higher help level, the technician tried the administrator mode. They think it is a Firefox issue. Couldn't find any settings wrong in my computer.
All so strange, and most definitely a workaround. But firefox is running and synced. Granted I have to click to allow it to run every time I open it, but my browsing life has been restored for the time being.
Hi Zirka, I can understand it that as the problem has been resolved you do not wish to try anything else it does however seem an unnecessary workaround. I am just posting at the moment because I do not want to miss developments on this. I know my own Windows installations and others do not need Firefox to be used in Administrator mode.

I am just too burnt out to try anything else right now. I am just so happy I have my Firefox browser functioning properly (just another click to get into it in Admin mode). I spend at least 30 hours trying to get it to actually work, (hired a geek, worked with Kapersky, Microsoft support, tried the terrific help from the forum contributors, Tonnes and Fred - very much appreciated).
No one else seems to have this problem, so it is all a complete mystery to me. I definitively would like to have it operating properly. I am really just at a loss at what to try next.
