After refreshing Firefox I can't restore my bookmarks.

I have followed the steps in the article "Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer", and have tried several times both from the file that was created on my desktop and from the list on the bookmarks window. I have tried several of the different backup dates available. Each time I get an error that says "Unable to process the backup file".
