Hi mnbundle.
On which site you are experiencing this issue?
If everywhere, Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
- Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
- On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
Are you using the Firefox version from the official Mozilla servers or the version from the repositories of your Linux distribution?
Try the Firefox version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.
You can find the full version of the current Firefox release (46.0.1) in all languages and all operating systems here:
Verify that you meet the System Requirements (GTK+ and GLib) for the current Firefox release.

Does not occur in safe mode trying the troubleshooting guide now. Thanks
Finally got an image up. Firefox refresh did not work
In case the refresh did not helped, maybe it's deeper in than the refresh actually changes something. Can you please create a temporary new Firefox profile (according to Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles) and check, if it happens in a new profile too?
Btw. I see you are using Ubuntu. From what I remember, they used to add some extra extension into Firefox. Do you see any extensions listed in the Add-ons manager?
It appears to be
Languages: English (South Africa) Language Pack
when disabled the problem goes away.
The English (GB) Language Pack is fine
For rest that was left:
Extensions: Ubuntu Modifications 3.2 enabled and disabled, no effect
Plugins: OpenH264 ... No effect when "Always activate" and "Never activate" are toggled NB: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ Reports no plugins even though the browser reports "OpenH264 ..." as a plugin
