Firefox crashes computer and Firefox is removed on reopening

I will have Firefox open - maybe watching a Sky product and my MacBook goes black and has shut down. The computer will either say it has restarted down due to an error and or I restart the computer - both ways Firefox has been removed from the computer when restarted and I have to download again. Safari is still there even though I had that open at the same time.
