I cannot access mozilla addons on firefox or any firefox based browser. Right now I'm on icedragon which is a firefox based browser and it also doesn't work. I reinstalled and uninstalled firefox about 10 times. Removed all registry entries etc and still cannout load the address addons.mozilla.com. The other browsers I use are explorer and chrome and addons.mozilla.com loads. When I try downloading an addon through the addons tab in settings the download of the addon fails. I hate using chrome but have no choice, please help.

Can't you open the Addo-ons website at all or is there only a problem with downloading and installing extensions?

You can check for issues with security software and certificates.

What security software do you have?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that has effect.

There is security software like Avast and Kaspersky and BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.

Separate Issue; Your System Details shows;

Installed Plug-ins

Shockwave Flash 19.0 r0 Shockwave Flash 17.0 r0
Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Note: Edge on Win10 does not use ActiveX version but its own Flash.

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

Then reinstall the latest version.

Flash Player Version 19.0.0.245
https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html
Note: Windows users should download the ‘’’active_x’’’ for “Internet Explorer,” and the ‘’’plugin’’’ for “Plugin-based browsers” (like Firefox).

Adobe still offers Flash 18.0.0.255 as its extended support release further down

The Add-ons page ("Get Add-ons" section) works indirectly with the Add-ons site and there may be additional security issues installing that way. Can you use the site itself:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/

I cannot open the addons website at all using firefox. I can access the link using other browsers though.

I am using nod32 ver 9 and malwarebytes ver 2.2. Good idea with safemode, I will try and report back

No i cannot, it just won't load. If i paste that into any other browser it will connect though.

As an extra note, when I go into cmd.exe and type in ping addons.mozilla.org

I get message:

Ping request could not find the host addons.mozilla.org.

When I ping directly through my modem it pings it.

When I ping from the command prompt, I get:

C:\>ping addons.mozilla.org

A web-based DIG shows:

That's part of the Amazon cloud. I don't know why some browsers would be able to ping it, but neither Windows nor Firefox can contact it.

You can try a different DNS service.

Tried safemode with networking and nothing loaded, but my internet was connected. I tried all browsers and it was the same.

Btw i forgot to mention, I use Opendns and have used it even when firefox still worked. Just suddenly one day something happened and I couldn't access the page.

Now that I think of it I do have sometimes a problem where images won't load on some websites I used to visit (on any browser). Probably related.

I will try the things in that article now, thanks for the link

Yeah nothing is working, i tried everything in this thread. This sucks especially because I really like firefox and use it on all my devices. I can usually figure out problems but this time I am struggling. In addition to everyone's suggestions I checked my hosts, reinstalled my anti virus and malwarebytes, added the link to exclusions, added to windows firewall exclusion (even though its disabled and still nothing.

I've already tried this many times. I uninstalled using revouninstaller and removed registry entries and all left over files. I even added ccleaner registry cleaner to the mix and reinstalled. Still nothing.
