Roughly over the course of the past week, I believe since the newest update came into effect, I have been experiencing rather sporadic bluescreen events, and the most consistent factor with each time would appear to be me listening to podcasts online, or opening new tabs with these podcasts, and possibly to do with having tabs with said podcasts and youtube videos open at the same time (my browser hasn't got a particularly good track record with running .flv, the plugin container often crashes), and I'm rather worried that this could cause some permanent damage to my laptop before I can get my data onto a new one. If there's anything I can do to sort this out then any help would be greatly appreciated.

Quick update - I ran the computer's RAM checking tool, it didn't turn up any errors.

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Did you check the Windows Event log for details about these BSOD crashes?

I did, but it just seems to class them as unexpected shutdowns, none of the '1005' events that I'm supposed to look for in these situations. I've only been finding events with the id '41'

I'll see if the problem continues to persist after I've updated a bunch of stuff and turned off hardware acceleration.

Not much to do now but keep you posted, unless different fixes can be found.
