Every letter I type is appearing on top of itself
I am on a lenovo laptop that recently had some file error problems with installing Visual Studios C++. I've resolved those now, but now whenever I turn on firefox, all of the text on the page and any text I try to type appears on top of itself. Meaning, typing "the" doesn't appear as "the," but instead appears wiht the t, h, and e on top of each other. When I try running this in safe mode, however, the problem goes away. i tried making a new profile, but even the creating a new profile wizard had this problem happening. I did manage to make a new profile but it was still happening. I don't want to keep running it in safe mode, does anyone have any idea what's wrong? I already tried reinstalling it to no avail.

You created this thread with a Linux user agent.
Does this happen on a computer that runs Window?
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
Yes, sorry, the laptop I'm having a problem on is Windows, i'm having to type this out on my linux laptop
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

I don't think it's a virus. It started very suddenly after I had a problem with a corrupted file. i've also found that Internet explorer crashes on startup, saying that it's ieframe isn't working or something similar. Skype is also crashing on startup. I'm certain that skype worked before, so I don't know what the issue is.
Safe Mode deactivates these things among others:
- extensions
- hardware acceleration
- JavaScript "just in time" compilers
- userContent.css and userChrome.css
Did you try manually disabling hardware acceleration to see whether a graphics card/chipset drive incompatibility might be the culprit?
