Firefox and google is been weird
I had problems with Firefox the other day, my tab page wouldn't load, it just kept saying the the web address was wrong. Now when I load Google the layout is strange (see picture below) and also if I search something it's weird, there is no options for maps etc. I've tried updating as well as down grading but nothing seems to make a difference. I need help!

I want this layout again :/
Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Your second screen shot in your original question reminds me of what Google results look like in Firefox on an Android device. It's possible that at some point Google saved a cookie indicating a preference for their mobile layout. Hopefully clearing the cache and cookies (as set out in cor-el's post) will clear that up if that's what's happening.
I have deleted the cookies and cache in the history as that is the only options that will come up.

This has made no difference neither was removing firefox completly and reinstalling it
Sorry for bothering you's but I have managed to sort the homepage out (see picture) but the search is the same
Let's see if it's something in the URL. If you copy the complete contents of the address bar from that results page and paste it here, we can look at the parameters.
Also, could you test logged out of Google? To do that, you can open a private window (assuming your existing page is in a regular window) using Ctrl+Shift+p. Does Google look any different if you search in the private window?

I have tried this and it still the same :(
Did you try the malware check as there are a lot of malware types that affect Google.
You can especially try this program:

I use Malware Bites and AVG which are currently doing scans but I will try theses thanks
Regarding the URL, I didn't see the exact parameters you're getting. If you use the following, do you still get the very limited menu, just Web and Images:
Or, if the problem is that you're getting a mobile layout, try adding nomo=1 like this:
I'm not getting that format
So the last link doesn't change anything?
Can you paste the full URL of your results page into a reply?
Hmm, when I follow your link, it redirects me to:
Which has the old black toolbar at the top. (I'm not logged in.)
The search box is blank. If I search firefox again, the results page has this URL:
It has the full search tools line but also the black toolbar. I can't tell what the heck Google is doing.
Clearing my google.co.uk cookies and clicking the logo to go back to the home page gives me a normal home page.
Then searching firefox gives me a normal-looking results page with this URL:
https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?hl=en#hl=en-GB&q=firefox
If I paste this hash string from your problem URL
#gsc.tab=0&gsc.q=firefox&gsc.page=1
at the end of the address bar of the good results page and press Enter, then the results page displays briefly and redirects back to the black toolbar home page.
Based on various web search results, these gsc parameters appear to be related to the layout of some Google "Custom Search Engine" pages. These may appear on websites/blogs for internal search using Google technology. I'm not sure why they are appearing on your regular normal Google searches.
I just found out that if I click on google images and type in something like cats they come up and normal and when I go to web search from the images it's normal :S Super confused!
How were you starting your search before?
If it was a bookmark, some bad parameters might have been saved with it.
If you were starting to type Google in the address bar and using a suggestion from history, you may want to delete some of those old URLs. If you using the keyboard, you can arrow down in the list of suggestions and use the Delete key to remove them. I think they're still in your history but Firefox should no longer suggest them in the location bar.
Or... it's possible that you were involved in one of Google's many temporary random experiments and they're done torturing you now.
If I go straight into search the problem is still there but no if I do it the way I said above.
