My drafted email with too many recipients has dissappeared

I drafted an email and hit the send but got a message that there were too many recipients. Before I could reduce the number of recipients the email just disappeared. Where did it go and can it be recovered?

First see if there is a copy in the Drafts folder, If no, is there a copy of sent email in the 'Sent' folder. Or maybe in the 'Outbox' .

Thanks, I did check all the possible locations before raising the query ! I subsequently 'searched' and found the email allegedly in the 'sent' folder. However the 'sent' folder was empty when directly opened strangely. I have since moved it to a folder which I am able to access. It is none-the-less curious that the 'sent' folder appeared empty when clicked.
