I'd like to keep using Firefox, but FF stops working after a few hours and I keep getting the "missing profile" message. I have to reboot to use Firefox for another few hours. I've started using Chrome, as to post this. I have tried various things that have been recommended on the support site, some seem to risk losing favorites etc. Why is this so hard?

Could Adblocker be the problem?

I'd like to try to get this fixed systematically.

Two ways:

1. backup bookmarks and passwords and refresh the firefox, then re-import passwords and bookmarks. Yes you will lose history, cookies and log-in sessions.

2. set up firefox sync to sync everything to the server first, then refresh your firefox and log back into your sync account, this way, you also keep the history.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
