I openend a bug report https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1118958, but so fare no one took it. I am currently running 35.0.1 and still having the same issue.

I did took a clean profile, and just set bookmarks to sync. I created a new sync account. I am experiencing upload issues for my computers in my home network, download works fine. Access from other networks, e.g. mobile works fine as well.

I never had this problem with the old sync. I can not track down the problem. There is no fancy firewall deployed, and I never experienced any other problems regarding internet connection. I restarted the router just in case, with no change. I would help me already just to understand the error message. For what reason might this error message arise? Is it related to authentification or is the sync server involed. In the latter case I could run an own instance to see if this would be of any benifit, but I think it is authentication related. Am I right?

Cheers kodi

Have you tried to Sync more recently than 01-07? The date of that Bug report."

IIRC, there were problems with some Sync servers in early January, which have since been corrected.

Try "disconnect" then restart Firefox, then reconnect and run a manual Sync. Then see if your issue is gone.

A newer sync-log can be posted here - http://pastebin.mozilla.org/ - and provide a link here so one of us can look at it.

I suspect that you haven't received a response at Bugzilla because your report sounds more like a support request than a Bug report, based upon your comments there.

Hi there, thanks for your help.

I did exactly following steps:

1. started firefox with option -P and created a new profile called 'test' 2. set services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess to 'true' 3. signed in my existing test sync account 4. triggered manualy a sync from the right top menu

in about:sync-log I found one entry after around 30 seconds. At the bottom a message popped up, with the content "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Failed to connect to the Server...."

The logs content: http://pastebin.mozilla.org/8603218

Then, as you adviced, I: 1. disconnect the sync account 2. restarted firefox with the same profile 3. connected to the same sync account

and found another log entry: http://pastebin.mozilla.org/8603452

Mozilla Firefox 35.0.1, Arch Linux, 32bit

Hope that helps to help me :-)

So now you have 2 Profiles on the same Sync account? That works good for me when playing with Sync. One each Profile for Release, Beta, Aurora, and Nightly channel versions.

You're getting logged in to the Sync server, after some "housekeeping" as far as fixing an issue listed starting on line 14 in both those Pastebins.

And after all that "housekeeping" I see this un-fixable error down at lines 206 and 187. Status.sync: success.sync => error.login.reason.network

And with all three logs taken into account, that was on two different Sync servers. The first one was on a different Sync server.

This is what the error handler came up with.
bookmarks failed: Error: NS_ERROR_NET_RESET (resource://services-sync/resource.js:394:18) JS Stack trace: Res_post@resource.js:428:12 < SyncEngine.prototype._uploadOutgoing/doUpload<@engines.js:1393:20 < innerBind@util.js:525:42 < SyncEngine.prototype._uploadOutgoing@engines.js:1441:9 < SyncEngine.prototype._sync@engines.js:1492:7 < wrappedSync@bookmarks.js:216:11 < _sync@bookmarks.js:213:1 < WrappedNotify@util.js:148:21 < Engine.prototype.sync@engines.js:657:5 < _syncEngine@enginesync.js:199:7 < sync@enginesync.js:149:15 < onNotify@service.js:1275:7 < WrappedNotify@util.js:148:21 < WrappedLock@util.js:103:16 < _lockedSync@service.js:1265:12 < sync/<@service.js:1257:14 < WrappedCatch@util.js:77:16 < sync@service.js:1245:5

I have no ideas about what that is about. It seems that you do get logged in but there's a problem arising when Sync attempts to synchronize data.

If you have the time, setting up your own Sync server should bypass that error - if my "read" about that it is happening on the Sync servers is correct.

Sorry for the delay, I have been busy and could not run my own sync server yet.

Here is an update for firefox 36: new profile, same sync account as with the tests above: https://pastebin.mozilla.org/8823748
