New Tab opens as vi-virw with black ball above in new version of FireFox. It is very unusual (viruse??). Please Help!
During installation of FireFox the installation was interrupted by another program (??) and a Fast Start Add-on was added by lightningnew tab.co (??). Some file was installed in the Application Data\Mozilla. FireFox works fine. However, the New Tab opens as vi-virw with black ball above it instead frequently used websites. Please Help!
NOTE: This problem occurred on for my another ThinkPad with XP OS.

A quick search shows me that Lightning New Tab is a Google Chrome addon, so I have no idea what to think.
Start by going to about:addons and removing anything you didn't put there. If that doesn't work, go to about:config and change the new tab url to about:newtab or whatever you had it set to.
Firefox 23.0? Really? Firefox 33.1.1 is the latest version.
Where did you download Firefox from? IMO, the only place to get Firefox, is from Mozilla directly! http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/#desktop
No "extras" or surprises like you just got.
The Firefox was working fine until I tried to download Adobe Reader. The vi-virw program was installed in the program folder and it was not easy to remove it with a msg "You are warned!". Deleting the vi-virw and installing Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/#desktop again the installation is interrupted by some other program. Probably same peace software is installed somewhere in the system that controls proper Firefox installation.

I have deleted Fast Start tab. - No improvement. After about:newtab it is OK. However, when open next tab it is vi-view tab.
