How to customize default HTML input elements and buttons through userChrome?

I managed to modify the scrollbar appearance through this: https://github.com/Endor8/userChrome.js/blob/master/floatingscrollbar/FloatingScrollbar.uc.js

However I'd like to change the appearance of HTML elements like buttons, checkboxes, radios, select dropdowns, etc... They all have the default Windows look which is pretty ugly.

How can I do that? Are there existing packages like the scrollbar with some more modern designs?
