Can I change OS on my ZTE Open?
Mozilla is abandoning FireFox OS for smart phones. I have a ZTE Open smartphone. Is there a way to install another OS? Or do I recycle the phone and start over?

Most definitely, yes. Which OS do you want to move to?
I don't know what OS I want. Today 6/2/16, the screen shows FTM and I can't turn it on or off. Had to take the battery out to get it off.

Hey, any luck with this?
I tried putting my battery back in and it has been working fine, although I don't know how to set the clock. I have never used it to connect to the internet. I never had data service. I've never updated the Firefox OS. I don't know what type of OS I want. But the FTM is gone.
Can you recommend an OS for my ZTE? I am interested in taking pictures and possibly videos. That's my main interest besides calls and texting. Getting directions could be helpful occasionally.
Thanks for asking Michael, Pamela
Hi Pamela,
Glad to hear from you again. It's nice to hear it's working again.
Concerning the clock, if you have a sim card in the phone, you should be able to adjust it automatically using the network time.
Are you currently unable to take pictures or videos?
Cheers, Michael
Hi Michael - yes I can take pictures and videos. I'm guessing by "network time" you mean, I go to a wifi hotspot and log onto the internet, and . . .? Maybe it will sync the time automatically? I've never gone on line with it. I never updated the operating system. When I wanted to download some pictures, I couldn't. They had a weird ending that none of my software recognized. So it's not worth much when you can't see them except on my cell phone.
Cheers, Pamela
