Using a school supplied MacBook Pro (I teach mathematics in Boston Public Schools). The OS is 10.9.5 Just upgraded Firefox 38.0.1 I set the remember history but the library does not have any entries in it.

I also use firefox at home on my imac and do not experience this problem. Firefox is my browser of choice and I really need this to work as it would be very useful to have my browser history available on my school machine.

Thank you very much for your help,

David Kamishlian

Chosen solution

Please try these in turn;

Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the places.sqlite file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

Thanks a lot for your help. This fixed the problem!!! Just a suggestion for finding the file. You want to open up a terminal window and use the find command: find . -name "places.sqlite" -print

Again Thank you so much for your help FredMcD. I am totally psyched.
