In main window's email list it shows a golden star against emails that are starred. Perfect.

However when you have opened the email you can toggle the star on/off (using S key for example) but the star status is not shown in this window. I have to go back to the main window's email list to check it's status.

By contrast, in the same window, if you put tags on the email it shows which tags are active.

Is there a setting to activate this option or is it a design oversight? Or am I misunderstanding something?

I'm pretty sure that I'm just missing or overlooking something, but how would I filter a handful of multiple domains to a certain folder? For example, if I wanted to filter everything from PayPal, Amazon, or my bank into a certain folder, how would I do that? Most spam emails, I just immediately filter to the trash, but these are a few companies that I prefer keeping in a separate folder in case it is something important... but yet it doesn't sit in my main inbox cluttering up personal conversations. Any help would be appreciated!

I would like to make any kind of notification for Mozilla Thunderbird for each e-mail that comes from exact e-mail address eg. temp.temp@temp.com with exact subject eg. This is info. Until now I have tried few addons but didn't manage to make any kind of notification.

In write mode, Tbrd displays contents of Personal Address book instead of All Address Books. I've fixed this problem before, but I don't remember how and I'm sick of flailing around in crappy non-helpful Tbrd system.

My "reply"button is missing from the mail toolbar and when I click customise, there is not a reply button to drag up to the toolbar. Clicking on restore default set will change any customisations I have done to the toolbar but will NOT restore the reply button to the optional customisation set. Using TB V 56.0b4 on Windows 7

In Apple's desktop email client (called Mail), the part that shows basic information about the email like sender, subject and date is set up to take up less space than the one in Thunderbird. The section I'm talking about is to the left of the message page. The sender, subject and the first two lines of the message are displayed in separate rows instead of separate columns. The advantage to this approach is that it allows the message pane to be larger. I've attached a generic Apple screenshot so you can see what I'm talking about. Is it possible to make Thunderbird do this? How?

Filter for POP 3 account - Do not Download it from the server

Windows Live Mail has a 'Message Rule' (filter) "Do not Download it from the server ". So for example a rule could be set such that 'Fred@domain.com' remains on the server but all other '@domain.com' messages are downloaded. I can't find a way of doing this in Thunderbird filters - am I missing something. I would like to use Thunderbird to replace Windows Live Mail but if I can't do this I will have to think again.

I've just reinstalled the latest version of Thunderbird and managed to enable the Titlebar. Unfortunately it remains resolutely white and will not display the active or inactive title bar colours I have set for all my other applications.

Is there any way to make thunderbird accept the user-defined colours?

I wanted to try thunderbird 60 (60.0b6). Fresh install with a new profil.

And I can't find the "quick reply" option (the quick reply field that allow to quick reply to an email, like in the regular version of thunderbird 52.8).

How do I turn that on ?

I receive a lot of emails and a fair amount of them simply require a reply. The original email is no longer needed. From looking at the support site and web searches this does not appear to be a current function.

Microsoft excel allows me to see all the attachments received throughout a long conversation thread make it very convenient. Is there any way to get this feature for Thunderbird? I have to click 50 email messages to find old attachments that were sent to me, it is really frustrating. Please let me know if any addons do this, I'm surprised no one has talked about this before.

I want to use Google for my default search engine within Thunderbird. So i searched the support site and found this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-search-engine-open-search#thunderbird:win10:tb52

as instructed i copied the xml file to my profile, and deleted the file search.json.mzlz4 from the profile. i restarted thunderbird and, it didn't work. so i double checked and yes, the google.xml file is in the profile, and yes, the search.json.mzlz4 file was gone. restarted it, and it did still did not work. no google in the search engine dropdown.

i searched the support site again, and found a post from a year ago where someone had the same problem. they were advised to download the google search plugin at:

So i did as instructed, and tried to install from a file. i got a message in red at the top of the screen:

Google search for thunderbird could not be installed because it is not compatible with thunderbird 60.

so here we are. is there no way to install google as the dafault search engine within thunderbird?

We do not want our users to use autofill with Thunderbird. We want them to have to enter the email address each time. Somehow at least one of our users has autofill turned on on her client. Is there a Registry edit or a GPO I can create and push to all users to ensure that they can't use autofill?

I do not want my Inbox emails threaded.

There is one posted answer. To Quote it "To make all new folders unthreaded, open Preferences/Advanced/General/Config. editor and change the preference mailnews.default_view_flags to 0 (zero), OK to close Options.

Help. Since I upgraded to the newest version of Thunderbird (MAC). When I double-click on a word when while composing an email it brings up an HTML Attributes dialog window instead of selecting the word.

I like to see the complete header when I view messages, but don't wish to include the header as text when I forward them, as it only confuses the recipients. How can I have the one without the other? I don't want to have to edit each forwarded message to strip out the header text.

Installed was Thunderbird 60.3.1 but I had to delete this and re-install version 52.5 because an extremely important function does not work in the new version: I MUST be able to switch between GUI languages.

The problem: general.useragent.locale is ignored.

I like the new version, but for now I can't use it. Is there a way to get around this? Installing other versions or other profiles is unacceptable. I mus be able to switch quickly betweeb gui languages.

I upgraded Thunderbird recently to 60.0, Somewhere along the line I lost an icon. When I was creating/responding to a message I had the "Return Receipt Requested" icon on a tool bar. It is now not there and I cannot customize the toolbar to add it back. How do I get it back on my toolbar. I know I can go to the Options menu item and add it from there but I would like to get it back on the toolbar? Thank you
