Quick Filter does not return correct results in Unified Inbox (Thunderbird 140.12.0 ESR)

I'm using Thunderbird **140.12.0 ESR (aarch64)** and believe I've found an issue with the Quick Filter when searching the **Unified Inbox**.

• • Steps to reproduce:**

1. Open the **Unified Inbox**. 2. Open the Quick Filter bar. 3. Enter a search term (e.g. "maddy").

• • Observed behaviour in the Unified Inbox:**

• With no "Filter messages by" options selected, entering a search term does not filter the message list.
• Selecting **Sender**, **Recipients** and **Subject** still does not return the expected email.
• Selecting **Body** changes the results after a delay, but the expected email is still **not** returned.

If I open the **actual Inbox** containing that same email and repeat the search:

• The expected email is found using **Sender**, **Recipients** and **Subject**.
• When **Body** is selected, the search takes longer and eventually returns additional matching messages, including the expected email.

This behaviour is reproducible with multiple search terms and suggests that the Quick Filter does not search the **Unified Inbox (virtual folder)** correctly, even though the same search works in the underlying physical folder.

Could you please confirm whether this is a known issue or a bug?

As a loyal and long time user of Firefox [since 1998 yes 1998 ,,,] if you or i cant remove google from my browser , i might have to find a replacement, that will allow me to remove this nonsense , i await your response ATB BlackSam

Firefox just updated a few days ago to version 149.0. Prior to, no issues. Now every time I enter a search term and hit enter. A new tab opens and the page is blank. It only happened after the update. Closing the tab and doing the same thing again opens a new page correctly.

Searching firefox support for “how to search firefox settings” only gives links to changing search engine. I want to find where a specific setting is located without looking thru every category. IOS.

I’m feeling very … filtered by google or safari search engines and haven’t done any research into other search engine options, though I’ve heard other people mention other search engines that are less filtered that I didn’t remember the name of. I hadn’t even really thought of this before but someone recently talked about how all the information is out there on the Internet (which I knew, Duhr 😂) but like a pair of craftily sculpted goggles, each device, OS, search engine simply filters the results I have access to and yet, I still search using Chrome. Wtf? Can you help me? Help me snap out of my bubble?! 😂 I keep falling asleep and forgetting to find a way to be more safe (as I know I’ve been with you on my laptop for yeeears) and also be “allowed” to have access to more info in the big wide world on the Internets? 😜 Do you guys have a search engine? And/or do you guys know the direction to point me in to become a more aware and present human being on the internet who remains safe from all the bs and is also not filtered down into a granule of human pellet feed that they can dissolve into lusch and control, limit, feed off of for profit, leaving me in a vulnerable position to blackmail or destroy? LMAO! 🤣 🥹😳 Really though… I trust Firefox and have used this browser for years. For years now though, I’ve been only on my iPhone and forgot about Firefox until just now because I just “went with this”, brainlessly, on my iPhone and there are certain options one is fed when adopting the iPhone (and Firefox is definitely _not_ one of them!). None of the topics seemed to match my issue so I selected "Browse".

In FF 153.0.1 on W11 64-bit, after Firefox updated to the latest version my Alt+D does not work. Ctrl+L still works. In Incongnito, Alt+D DOES work. However, in regular browsing it does not work, even after I have disabled all of my extensions. I don't know why it's not working or what I could do from my end to try to get it working.

Every time I try to use the firefox search bar it redirects to my google search bar. I downloaded firefox because I was tired of Google and wanted something different. Is there not a firefox search bar or am I doing something wrong?

I recently purchase s new Dell desktop computer with Windows 11, my preferred search browser is Fire Fox i have used it for years and like it. Recently when i make a search with Fox Fire the answer for the search is with another search engine, example: Yahoo, Google, Edge or other. I don't recall this with the old windows 10 why is the happening and can I change this ?.

On my Android phone, I sm not able to select Firefox as a search engine in the list of available search engines in the drop down box because it is not listed. Why is this and how can I get it listed as a choice? I have Firefox installed and an account created. I am not sure exactly what the problem is. Thanks

I am trying to change my search over to Mozilla and firefox. When I open up the firebox search the google search pops in. Why? I already discouraged because I know they are attempting control. The last two years I have been hacked almost every month. The whole problem has been ongoing for almost 20 years.

Recent builds have changed the way that the user can direct queries to the various search engines that can be added (i.e. eBay, Wikipedia, IMDB etc) - to a new configuration that is awkward and forces more clicks.

Here is the method that currently allows reverting to the previous approach :

in about:config

Set string "browser.search.widget.new: to false

... and to delay automatic deletion of engines set "browser.search.widget.removeAfterDaysUnused" to thousands
