I have a new Windows 11 lap top and have been trying to make Firefox work the same as on my Windows 10 laptop. I looked at "Bookmarks import doesn't show bookmarks on title bar? " and tried to follow the instructions. The result is that the bookmarks toolbar contains both "Import bookmarks" and "Bookmarks menu" but not the actual Bookmarks Toolbar titles. The Library shows:

As you can see, I am going round in circles. I do not understand properly how bookmarks work. On my old Winows 10 laptop, I managed by trial and error to get something that I could use, but now I am mostly getting error.

I can't figure out which topic to use for this but I can't submit it without one.

When I click on the star icon in the address bar the star icon is filled in, and existing bookmarks do show with the filled-in star icon and they work. But I no longer get a dropdown where I can assign a folder, edit, tag, or delete an existing bookmark, and the pages I've tried to bookmark don't show up in Recently Bookmarked so they haven't been added. I don't know if it has something to do with the toolbar?

Nothing I can find online helps. The places.sqlite file in my profile is not read-only, and I refreshed Firefox (stupidly, before I took a screenshot of the pinned shortcuts on my New Tabs page) and that made no difference. The only extension I use is UBlock Origin. Changing profiles did not help. This is on my personal laptop and no organization controls my settings.

I stay up to date on Windows 11 and Firefox updates. I do use a VPN but it never interfered with bookmarking functionality before. (I see Firefox offers a free one now but I've got a couple of years left on my paid subscription).

I asked the community but got no replies. (I did "reply" to add more information which no longer applies, and I can't seem to delete the "reply".)

For about a month I've had to use Chrome because my bookmarks scramble or become unoperatable, then about 4 days ago they started saving again & all bookmarks worked fine. This lasted about 3 days then went back to becoming dead or wrong (may all say 1 or 2) sites I visit. a restart may lose any new bookmarks, & the rest of my bookmarks are either wrong site or dead links. How do I correct? I have tried new downloads & the new Firefox acts just like the messed up version. Probably a simple setting but I give up, can't find the solution. Any help appreciated. You have my permission to change any setting needed to fix Bookmarks. Thanks, James

Hi all. I can tell from a quick google search that this question has been asked MANY times, but I can't find step-by-step instructions for noobs like me who are new to the advanced features utilized to fix this issue. Please, if you wouldn't mind... Can someone provide step-by-step instructions to help me resolve this? I'm running version 154.0.1. I don't want to delete the bookmarks themselves; just that list (permanently). I appreciate your help!

Previously I'd click on STAR symbol (Edit this Bookmark) on Bookmark Toolbar, then under Location choose folder I wish, click Save and the new URL would go to that folder. Now it will not. I have to go to Recently Bookmarked and left click and drag it to the folder I wish. Above in Manage Bookmarks it is in there. Show Editor when Saving is checked. What settings do I need to change to return the the simple way of saving? Went to Trouble Shooting Page, Cleared the Cache, but too much lost if I refresh. don't understand Text or Raw Data. I only have a couple of apps, but what to do to save them?

How do I make "other bookmarks" show up on the bookmarks menu? (Not the toolbar, thanks).

Basically for me, the bookmarks toolbar is just too much valuable real estate in the window. I keep it turned off. Until a year or two ago I could access "other bookmarks" in the bookmarks menu -- in fact I still can at my wife's home computer. (Oddly, she keeps the bookmarks toolbar turned on, so if I needed to get to other bookmarks at home it wouldn't be much trouble anyway.) I've hunted around on the internet and found nothing but advice on how to use "other bookmarks" on the toolbar, which is what I'm trying to avoid. A helpful AI (hahahahaha) suggested that turning the "OB" off on the toolbar would leave me "still" able to access them on the menu, but that didn't change anything on the menu.

Windows 10 Home, version 22H2, Firefox 148.0.2 (64 bit), old i5 cpu, 16GB RAM, mother's shoe size 8A, never been to a Phish concert but talked and talked and talked to Johnny and Jesse Clegg once after a midnight show.

When I bookmark a website and select edit, it does not show my created bookmarks to save too, nor can I move existing bookmarks to created folders, why not? I have to create a folder, then select all my existing important bookmarks and save them to the created folder. I can not later add any saved bookmarks to the created folder, why not? The Beta version has the same issue. Please make a change to allow for bookmark saving or moving to created folders. Thank you.

I updated my version to 153.0. The Bookmarks left panel was there. I did a CTRL+B, this one disapeared normal But once done I wanted to have my Boorkmarl left pannel back. So I did CTRL+B no Bookmark left pannel was displayed :-(

I'm running Firefox 153.1 64-bit on Windows 11 Pro 25H2. I have a LOT of bookmarks. Possibly over 3,000. Somehow over time I've managed to create a LOT of bookmarks in the Other Bookmarks folder unintentionally. I need to move and merge those to the correct Bookmarks Menu and ideally eliminate any dupes. Everywhere I look for a process to accomplish this I seem to get a lot of "can't be done". Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks for any help.

My question is how do I temporarily remove my bookmarks. I have many bookmarks, hundreds, and I want to disable them temporarily for a few days so they can't be seen by another person using my computer. How can I disable them, but then make them all reappear a few days later? Can someone help? Appreciate the help. Thank you.

Saving bookmarks from 'Tabs list' view is not same as saving bookmarks from webpage view.

1) It doesn't default to 'edit' option after saving but to 'view' option.

2) 'view' bookmark option from 'Tabs list' doesn't default to bookmarks &/ bookmark folder just saved, but to top level view, i.e. , 'Bookmarks' folder view.

3) Doesn't indicate previously saved tabs in the 'Tabs list' view.

_____Difficulties:

Points 1) & 2) above means that I can't easily edit the bookmarks I just saved. I have to remember or lookup where I saved a bookmark and then find the folder and then find the page(s) to edit the bookmark.

Point 3) from above means that I have to either reselect webpages I may already have bookmarked or lookup which ones I may have already saved and exclude them.

____Suggestion:

While saving bookmarks from 'tabs list' view:

i) Perhaps while saving bookmarks from 'Tabs list' , 'save in folder' option could be displayed.

ii) If 'save in folder' option is not displayed, atleast 'edit' option be displayed.

iii) If only 'view' option is displayed, then it should open up to the bookmark folder just saved with the bookmarks just saved highlighted.

My bookmark toolbar is empty. I have made sure "Always Show" is checked. I have tried to put new Web Sites on the toolbar to no avail. Nothing seems to bring back my bookmarks. I have added the little star with the bracket under it to the bookmark toolbar. It has many of the previous bookmarks but many are also missing. Entire folders are missing. I have been messing around with the tabs toolbar because they are about 30% too tall. About 1" too tall. 3/4" above text and 1/4" below. About 1/3rd of my screen is taken by tool bars. Approx 1 1/8" by the bookmark toolbar alone which is showing only the star with the bracket under it ( Far left of line ).

This is unbelievable ! I posted this again in response to somebody not being able to comprehend, "Bookmark Spacing Vertical Intervals Not Optimized". What the Hell else do I need to add to clarify that ? You don't want, can't or refuse to answer -- I get that. But DO NOT rope-a-dope me be typing it's not clear or you don't comprehend what, Bookmark Spacing Vertical Intervals Not Optimized means. It is a clear, concise description of an IT problem. I have zero clue how to describe it any other way. This is flabbergasting -- it is a well-known problem but all the solutions offered I have seen are garbage. Am wasting huge amounts of time and money, neighbor ! I can't submit a bill for all this runaround !

Hi, I need a way to transfer/export my bookmarks on my phone (Android) so I can import them to another browser. I don't have access to a computer any more, so that is not an option. Why doesn't Firefox let me export my bookmarks on my device? Why do I need a computer?

I can't do it one by one. It would take too long and I would miss something.

Could I log in to my Firefox account with another browser and get the bookmarks that way? And, no I don't have access to a computer any more. Is this normal for browser, is it the same problem on other browser as well?

What should I do? (no, I still don't have access to a computer)
