Inbox Empty

I cannot see any mail in my inbox even tho it says there are over 300. When a message comes in, it disappears after a few minutes.

I have searched the forum and have not seen my issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

We travel to FL for winter months and occasionally North for summer. In the past we have had no problem moving our profile between the two systems. This spring when we returned from FL, when the Profile was put on the DT at home, we saw major differences. We had always dealt with POP systems so we stored all email on a local system. We, my wife and I, have 5 different email addresses, all of which WERE on the same inbox. After this spring move to DT, all 5 had different accounts and inboxes. After this, our old inbox was stored in Local Folders. This we could live with. BUT

The remainder of our local folders were incomplete. We had about 1/3 of what was on the Laptop available on the Desktop. There was an unused Profile that had all of the Local Folder folders in it. It had taken me about of month to explore the difference, we had other things to do including an emergency trip back to FL to determine whether our condo was flooded with sewage as our next door neighbors was. It wasn't!!

So, I have tried a simple copy and paste to move the many missing Local Folders, both mozmsgs and sbd, to no avail. Is it possible to update my current Profile with the older info. It appears both DT and LT are the same version of Thunderbird. If so - please help this old computer hobbyist. I started in 78 with an IMSAI and CP/M writing printer drivers in assembly. Since then, a lot has happened and I'm no longer "up to date".

My send button has disappeared. I think it was after I removed a menu including "encrypt" by accident. I have tried following some of the suggestions on earlier posts, but when I go to "customize" there is still no send button. How can I restore it?

I recently upgraded my computer and re-installed Thunderbird with my several e-mail accounts. Somewhere, while setting up my various accounts, I used a comma (,) instead of a dot (.) in the account name; i.e. cxxx,xx@comcast.net instead of cxxx.xx@comcast.net. Now, when I try to send a message from that account I get the error message shown below. Receiving messages is not affected. My equipment is a Dell Optiplex 7010, 13th generation i7 CPU (x64), 16 Gb RAM, Windows 11 Pro, Thunderbird 128.1.1esr (64-bit). I cannot find a location or means to correct the comma vs. dot error anywhere in my Comcast account or in Thunderbird. What do you suggest? Thanks... Jim <jmcarp43@gmail.com>

I am unable to collapse all folders. My resurch on the internet, and your help has failed to find a working salution. I am running build 128.1.1esr 64bit working with my Gmail account. Most solutions found advise to "right click on the high level folder to close and select "Collapse All" from the context menue. This selection is not visable.

1. Please advise how to do this. 2. Is there a switch to collaps all when exiting the application?

When I send an Interac e-transfer, my bank sends me two email notifications. The first is that I have sent an Interac e-transfer, and the second tells me that the recipient has accepted it. Both of these notifications used to say that the sender was my bank, and continue to do that on my ISP's email portal. On Thuderbird, however, the first emails indicate that they are from my bank, and the second ones show that they are coming from my friend "John Smith" (who happens to be someone who sends me occasional Interac e-transfers). This has happened about 5 times now, and has done so over the last two months. This makes me very nervous! If Thunderbird is inserting someone else's name as the sender, and not my bank, is John Smith notified about anything? I do not want my private banking actions communicated to anyone other than me and/or my bank. And why does my ISP's email portal show the sender correctly, and Thunderbird makes up the fact that it is from John Smith? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I searched this forum for "Interac" and didn't find anything similar.

I have 2 problems and I NEED HELP ! We have 5 computers using thunderbird 2 at home 2 at work and 2 laptop, the laptop has Kasperski as the antivirus and the other 4 has Norton 360. Recently (a few months ago) all 4 computers with thunderbird started asking confirm a security exception every morning, its very frustrating and seems nothing we do can fix it on all 4, my email service providor CONETIX helped me with 2 systems which seems to have fixed those but the other 2 at home nothing seems to work ! All are Windowes 10, the older computer systems are at home. Some online forums suggest that the anti-virus is most likely the problem, I am NOT computer savy so anything complicated gets beyound my capability, can some one help with an easy to understand FIX for this ? The 2nd set of problems only started last week or so only on one of my work systems, I have no idea what caused it none, one morning I statred up as normal and all in incoming email has pictures of a power supply in the main body and any attachments the same, I deleted those and resent them back to myself off the laptop, they worked fine doing that, this has happened twice...................3rd time today I opened an email from April from my realestate and it has a picture of a dirty floor and no message and the attachement has the same picture, I dont even know where that picture came from ! Last week I deleted Thunderbird and a folder I found on Program Files and then redown loaded Thunderbird again, clearly theres some sort of screw up in the progam or something, every time I start up Thunderbird in the morning now it opwns up on an email on the inbox from more than a year ago, OK its easy just to scroll / pull down the slide thing to todays date and work in from there.................but if I exit email it starts at the old date all over again when I open it. PLEASE HELP ! I dont know to work your troubleshooter .................

My wife has been using Thunderbird for her email since 2010. It has largely worked well for her. Until a few days ago. She uses POP and we have our own domain for email. She wanted to make it easier to find sent messages (currently close to 70,000 messages) so she created a "Sent pre-2024" and started dragging and dropping some of the messages from the "Sent" folder into the "Sent pre-2024" folder. It has not gone well.

Thunderbird now routinely says it cannot send or save newly written and sent messages to the Sent folder. She has to close Thunderbird and open it again, and then the messages are sent, usually but not always saved in the Sent message folder.

In addition, there are now several additional system-created Sent message folders (Sent-1, Sent-2, etc. up to Sent-15 and Sent.msf-1.compact.backup with different numbers and one that is named sent.msf.compact-backup) that cannot be deleted, or if they are deleted they create themselves again. Some of these folders have messages in them and some do not. All of these folders are listed as Local Folders.

At some point she put all of the messages back in the Sent messges folder.

We have tried deleting all of the .msf files. We have deleted the global-messages-db.sqlite file and let Thunderbird rebuild the indexes.

How do we get rid of the extra (Sent-1, Sent-2, etc.) folders and, more importantly, return Thunderbird so when she presses the "Send" button, the messages are sent then and stored in the Sent message folder?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

After every update of thunderbird, existing e-mail account settings is lost.

2 weeks ago my Thunderbird stopped downloading my emails. I didn't discover it till my wife told me she wasn't getting any emails. On both laptop and my desktop we can send emails but not receive them. Both of our computers are windows 11. After trying to figure this out and nothing works I thought I would try opening same accounts in Blue Mail ( which I not a fan ). I entered all the pop3 info for my account and in minutes it retrieved the emails so it's not the server. On my wife's laptop I tried adding the exact same account (in Thunderbird) and it worked. She has 2 identical accounts and one gets the mail and the other one doesn't. I tried the same on my computer as a work around but Thunderbird won't let me, it says after all the info is entered " account already exists". There is a very similar forum entry from a few years back on here, but fortunately she could just click on each account and click "get mail" and it would download her messages. Mine won't. I use no add-ons and use default theme. I also deactivated the firewall and anti-virus, still nothing. I still find it strange that 2 separate computers have the exact same problem simultaneously. I'm upset because I've been using Thunderbird for many, many years. I think I started using it 20 years ago. Thanks

Hello, I'm brand new to Thunderbird. I wish to migrate from BT (which is Yahoo based) to Thunderbird. The emails migrated seamlessly. The contacts however, bring with them assorted characters that render it useless. For example Name comes as "a.henderson19@btinternet.com",,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,"0/0/00",,,"0/0/00",,,,,"a.henderson19@btinternet.com",,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I have 398 like this. It seems impossible to either delete them en masse, or edit them. I uninstalled Thunderbird with a view to starting the process anew, but it installed with both the emails and duff address book. I am unable to create new sub-folders within my Local Folders, nor re-name existing folders.

I am using Thunderbird 128.1esr (64 bit) on a Mac running macOS Ventura 13.6.9.

The process I am using is to select the folder name that I wish to create a sub-folder fro, then Control-click to call up the sub-menu. The New Subfolder command gives no result, nor does the Rename command.

Any advice please?
