Trying to retrieve emails & folders from a hard drive when the computer's processor died.

My laptop using Windows7, the processor died. The hard drive is ok. I am now using Windows10 in a newer laptop. I don't know how to access all the data from the other. I don't think I did a back up. I've got both personal & business. Is there a way to retrieve my old Thunderbird info? [And just so you know, I learned my lesson about not backing up.] And thank you for any help!

Strangely, I can't figure out how to add to someone else's post if it doesn't already have replies so I'm having to start my own thread. Anyway...

Thunderbird on my system is 32-bit on 32-bit Windows and a day or two ago it updated itself to version 115.10.1. Since then it's been slow at sending emails, receiving emails, applying filters and pretty much everything else. Is this being worked on? I saw a couple of similar reports from other people here but like I said, I can't add a reply to them.

And if it's not known about or being worked on, is there some way I can roll back an update?

OK, this is really complicated, and involves trying to rescue an old Eudora account to Thunderbird. If anyone wants the whole gory story, please ask and I'll tell all. ( I used Eudora Mailbox Cleaner and Eudora Rescue.) But the simple question is: is it possible to import a Thunderbird profile created on a Mac into a Thunderbird program on a PC? Thunderbird had been working perfectly for years under Mac OSX 10.13.6 (High Sierra) until this morning. Now attempts to start it result in an error message "You can't use this version of the application 'Thunderbird_78_10_0.app' with this version of MacOS. You have MacOS 10.13.6. The application requires MacOS 10.15 or later." The app shows a modified date of July 12, 2024, i.e., this morning and a size of 434.7MB. Perhaps it auto updated itself without checking that the update was compatible with the environment? Any suggestions about how to reverse that update or otherwise fix the problem would be appreciated!!! Garth Fletcher

since I installed Ubuntu 24.04 Thunderbird (V. 128.1.0 as snap app) changes the path of the local directory each time I restart Thunderbird. My original path to the local directory points to a mounted drive e.g. /media/username/disk... Thunderbird changes it to /run/usr/1000/doc/.... How can I avoid this? The same thing happens also to the path of the signature file.

I'm getting a message the following message each time I try to send an email:

"Sending of the message Failed.

Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.googlemail.com. Please check the password and verify the "Authentication method" in Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'.

Under SMTP Server I see the following: Description:Google Mail Server Name: smtp.googlemail.com Port: 465 Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: OAuth2

How can I get my outgoing email working again? It worked yesterday. Thanks, Carla

July 2024 - Thunderbird is demanding that I change my Hotmail password, after long trouble -free operation. It will not login. Why? (I have not changed the PW yet, hoping for a solution that will avoid the necessity.) I fear that it may be due to some fault in OAuth. Can anyone please provide any help to overcome this problem? Dear community, I have recently updated my Thinkpad from kubuntu 22.04 to 24.04, which included an update of thunderbird to version 128.1.0esr (and a switch to a snap package).

However, when I type into the quick filter bar, (i) the whole thunderbird GUI freezes until the filter was applied to my several thousand emails, (ii) which also seems to take much longer than before. Before the update, the filter took maybe ~0.5 seconds or less, it now takes ~4 seconds. A lot for just a few thousand emails. Btw, the same happens if I empty the quick filter field. Just that it seems to take now even longer until it shows all of my emails.

I don't know if anyone can help. I feel more this could be something for a bug report?

I have three POP addresses configured but TB will only send through the default account. If I select the "From" address to be different than the default account, I get the following error. Once I change the default account to the one I am sending from, the email sends fine.

Error: Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: SendAsDenied; mail1@outlook.com not allowed to send as mail2@outlook.com; STOREDRV.Submission.Exception:SendAsDeniedException.MapiExceptionSendAsDenied; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message [BeginDiagnosticData]Cannot submit message.

I use Mozilla for incoming mail, but cannot get it to send mail out. I get an error message to check my SMTP settings, which I have done repeatedly, and it doesn't fix the problem. I use those same settings to send my mail OUT with webmail (which is inconvenient to have to switch all the time), so I know the settings are correct. Can you help me understand why my outgoing mail won't work even when I verify that the settings are correct.

I cam getting constant and continuous multiple security exceptions for p53-caldav.icloud.com saying it's the wrong site. I have made not changes to the thunderbird setup except for normal updates. i've confirmed these multiple times but they still keep coming. Any help would be great

Thank you to David & Toad-Hall who kindly worked to get my Thunderbird to download my messages from Juno in a series of support messages in mid-July.

I have worked with KW, a computer help person at my senior center. I have a follow up appointment with KW on Fri 8/16, 1 pm MDT. Last session KW succeeded in re-setting the STMP server port to 25 and the POP3 server to 110. See screen shots.

This did NOT enable Tbird to download my messages from JUNO. There was a' change, Tbird would no longer SEND messages via my Juno account, earlier it would send test messages. see 3rd screen shot

Like Toad-Hall, KW is suspicious that the last message Tbird downloaded from Juno 6/26 that directed me to reset my password in Juno was malicious. We reset my password and Juno & Tbird both open with the new password I set up directly from the Juno webpage.

KW suggests I ask you if it is possible to deinstall & reinstall Tbird, Might that restore Tbird to function? Would I lose the contents of my saved messages in folders?

I really love my Thunderbird! I like to work off-line, I like storing my files on my computer computer.

I have really made a mistake in my settings. Unfortunately I have had difficulties reading my written mails and have tried several things. Changing the layout, using the zoom etc. TB does not save my settings and keeps writing af very small font. The font has always seem very small.

I really think I was very carefully about the change and I really do not know what has happend. I have somehow changed the default value in: layout.css.devPixelsPerPx from -1.0 to what was expected to be 1.20. But now it covers all my screen and I have no possibilities to find settings menu or even to move around to more menus.

I really appreciate if you can somehow help me to edit to the default value again. I can't find any config files in my PC under APP.data.

I really will feel very sad - if I cannot go back to my lovely mail clients settings and using all my setup in the future.

Please take a look in attached picture.

One POSSIBLE SOLUTION to the mail duplicated in 2 accounts

It was barely noticable, but SERVER NAME in Server Settings was the same for both accounts. These were Yahoo IMAP accounts. Each account had its own folder in Users / ...… (читать ещё)

It was barely noticable, but SERVER NAME in Server Settings was the same for both accounts. These were Yahoo IMAP accounts. Each account had its own folder in Users / ....... / ImapMail, but both accounts were pointing to one folder. Corrected this in the SERVER NAME field in Server Settings (see image)

"SHOULD" solve the issue .......... particulary it is THE ONLY item I can find that was not normal.

Hi, Nearly all of the User Interface windows on Thunderbird are tiny. For example, if I open the "About Thunderbird" the window is tiny. Likewise, various windows with instructions that come up are tiny. I have been able to at least read messages and read the settings windows by cranking up the font size but this does not help in general. This feels like a display resolution issue but other programs are fine. So if I change the system display res, I expect other programs to be huge. I have seen some threads on this in the archive but for older versions. I am running TB 128.1esr (I think - difficult to read!) on an iMac running Sonoma 14.6.1. I just upgraded to a new iMac and my previous installation was on Mojave and ran a thing called Theme and Font Changer, which is now disabled (possibly some buried consequence of running that add-on is resonspible). Really would appreciate help!!! Thank you. Tobias
