subfolders are not fetched

To my new computer Thunderbird has just fetched the INBOX-mails from the IMAP-server, not my many subfolders, not the SENT-folder, not the SPAM-folder. This has previously worked when I changed to a new computer. How do I get Thunderbird to transfer these mails.

Hi

 I am using version 115.14.0 (64-bit) and I am using Fedora 39, up to date OS.  I have been using ThunderBird for a very long time.  I have been experiencing an issue which, unfortunately, seems to come and go.  I am experiencing this issue on 2 separate physical computers.  How can I restore the list of emails under any account when they are not visible?
 This is very troubling ...

I exported my profile to an external drive, then reset my Windows 11 PC. The resulting file is a zip file. When I import, the import starts, then stalls and gives an error. The error log is incomprehensible to me. How can I not lose my local folders and messages? I tried unzipping and importing that folder, but another error. I need help! Ideas? Thanks.

There used to be a menu in the message header (lower right of screen) that included viewing the message source. I accidentally deleted it and cannot find how to restore it. I have looked through the Config editor and main menus and cannot find an option.

Bonjour, J'ai effacé par erreur un dossier et ses sous-dossiers directement dans ma messagerie Orange. J'ai ensuite installé Thunderbird qui voit ces dossiers dans la poubelle mais ils restent désespérément vides des mails qu'ils contenaient. Est-il possible de les récupérer malgré tout svp ?

how to auto- clear the server so i don`t keep getting maibox full messages or is this the inbox on my computer that the message refers to

i keep deleting the junk files

I am now getting a spinning wheel with annoying frequency while using/trying to use Thunderbird on my MacBook Air 2017 running Monterey. Everything was fine for the first 6-9 months, but over recent months the spinning wheel has appeared more and more frequently while I'm trying to read mail, answer mail, scroll through messages, etc., etc. Now it comes up every few minutes and delays me doing anything for about 15-30 seconds at a time. It's really frustrating. I recently ran Onyx, which was designed to clear cache, etc and make everything run smoothly. But the only program it required me to quit before it started was Thunderbird. Is there some cache or something I need to clear on a (semi-) regular basis to keep it working at a reasonable speed without this godforsaken spinning wheel interrupting everything? Thanks for any/all your help.

I followed the steps to copy the profile from the old PC and paste it into the folder on the old PC.

Thunderbird is using that profile, but there are no email history or address book.

Dear Team After Updating from 102.15.1 (32Bit) to 115.28.0 (32Bit) I can not connect to the provider "pop.hispeed.ch" anymore. Ping pop.hispeed.ch (on CMD) shows normal raction of beeing reachable with a "reply from xxxx.". I am on Windows 7 SP1. I have checked several times all setting POP and SMTP, switched off Firewall, uninstalled virus scanner, and and and many more (all knowledge found on internet..). Pressing the "Get Message" button in the upper menue bar shows no raction when pressed. The icon "Get Message" on the left side of the button "+ New Message" results in a none moving blue status bar at the right bottom of the window. After a while with the message "timed out.. ".In the settings "Config Editor.." the values of "mailnews.tcptimeout" are set to "300", and "true". I am using TB since donkey years with many many eMails. Are the lost? The Reply command no longer shows when I want to send an email back to the person that sent it. There is a note at the bottom of the email that says: A unique identity matching the From address was not found. The message will be sent using the current From field and setting from identity Vince Hunter < omni232@telus.net> Can you give me instructions in laymans terms to fix this bug and return it back to the way it was?

A few weeks ago after an automatic update I ended up having Thunderbird version 131.0.1 installed, I have no idea how this happened. On opening I get a message telling me I shouldn't be using a beta version and that I should revert to the latest general release version (128.4)

Today when I had some free time I downloaded 128.4 and installed it. On opening it it says that I can't use a profile file from a later version with the earlier version. Is there a way to recover from this WITHOUT having to set up the whole profile again from scratch.

Meanwhile I have done a system restore so I am back with 131.0.1 It has not given me any problems so far. Is there a new general release version imminent that will get me back on track?

I would appreciate any help I am not a computer expert, just a user, and find Thunderbird a very good email client.

I put some messages into folders yesterday and then created another folder and dragged the first folder into it to become a subfolder.

When I did this, I saw the new folder but it couldn’t be expanded to show the subfolders.

All other mail clients showed the correct hierarchy except Thunderbird.

Why is this happening?

Secondly, I post comments on the thunderbird blog regularly but they never show up. Where are they disappearing to? Are you receiving them?

Hi there - been using Thunderbird for donkeys (since it was Eudora!). A few weeks back I started to get messages from Microsoft that I needed to change security settings as they were no longer supported on 3rd party email handlers like Thunderbird. So I re-created the three accounts I had there and it seemed to be OK, though SMTP did not have the OAUTH2 option available ... and when I tried to use the new SMTPs they wouldn't work. So I reverted to the old settings there and it worked again.

But this morning, with the big update to Thunderbird Nebula, I can no longer send emails from the MS accounts. My Gmail one is still OK ... but whatever I try, I cannot get the MS ones to send emails - I get a failure connecting.

Login to server smtp-mail.outlook.com with username xxxxx@hotmail.com failed.

I checked on MS and the details shown there:

SMTP server name smtp-mail.outlook.com SMTP port 587 SMTP encryption STARTTLS Authentication Method OAuth2/Modern Auth

Are what I have (I did have a different SMTP Server name came up - smtp.office365.com - but that doesn't work either)

So ... where is the issue? Is this a bug in the new Thunderbird setup? Something else? I don't know where to go ...

Hi there,

I'm using Thunderbird beta (currently 131.0b6) and since the penultimate version, no mail appear in the list of mails anymore. The count of new mails is displayed but not the mails themselves. (Last mail to date: 18/09/2024 at 15:33 – more than 40 mails received since that date, all having been counted but never displayed)

What I checked:

- imap configuration - message filters - deletion of .msf files (with thbd closed) -> all old emails disappear - forced sync of trash and junk folders - displayed unread folders, including 'Show / discusions / ignored' - created empty profiles in the beta version (Debian 12 and Windows 11) => same issue - opened a ticket on Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1920376)

 I created an empty profile in the stable version (128.2.3esr on Win11 & Debian 12) => no problem

I use an AOL email account and Thunderbird on my Mac. In Thunderbird, the junk mail folder - which AOL call "Bulk Mail" for some reason - has moved to the Trash folder and I can't get it out. It's a Thunderbird problem - if I go onto my account at AOL.com, everything is normal. How do I get it out? I've tried cutting and pasting it, creating a new folder...nothing seems to work. I don't want to empty the trash in case I no longer have a junk folder at all
