Hello :-) I am using Thunderbird portable on windows 10 32 and 64 and had no problem up until now. But, yesterday I allowed thunderbird to update to v 68 and after that it was almost impossible to use it. Continuous crash with production of reports and reopening taht will last from seconds to minutes. Many crash also during email reading and writing that caused waste of hours of work. I tried several measures, changing from removable support to hard disk (C.\), on different directories, reinstalling previous versions and so on but nothing works. Today I updated on the new version 68.6 but the problem is not solved but get even worse and it is now impossible to have the email client open for more than a while. I manage several email accounts and for that Thunderbird is a great choice. I hope this problem can be solved quickly. Thank you for any support.

Thunderbird has started urging me to install 68.8.1 (I have 68.8.0), but when I click 'Restart Thunderbird' it just restarts with the same message and doesn't do it. It's also crashing frequently, not associated with any particular activity. I have been sending in the crash reports. Please advise!

This bug was first observe with Windows 10, Thunderbird 78.8.0 and persists in 78.8.1. The larger picture shows the situation after trying to send the mail: uploading the large file was completed and the link shows up in the mail. And this is the first hint for a malfunction I get a warning that my mailserver might reject my mail due to size. The next, smaller picture shows that the mailserver really rejects the mail. I then tried to remove the appanded file from the mail - I could not do so...

While trying to open the program, I get a popup saying it crashed & giving the options to restart or quit. If I go for "restart", it pops up again after a couple of seconds. I had both versions 52 & 68. I uninstalled #68, but when I try with #52.1.0, I keep getting a message that says, "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Thunderbird." When I restart, the SAME cycle repeats ad nauseum!

Downloaded a fresh copy and installed in dedicated folder, new copy runs but doesn't find my data, hope it's still intact.

Hey everyone, i received this error message: The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server exch101.ita.rwth-aachen.de responded: Message corrupted

I already tried a couple of things advised, like - deleting all latest messages on the outlook web app (that's my alternative access to the emails) - moving even messages from before the error occurred from inbox to subfolders - restarting the computer - trying the retrieval multiple times over - using Mozilla safe mode

I guess Thunderbird has already started downloading the corrupted message, and now it is blocking all other messages.... Any ideas?

I get the "Not Responding" error and unacceptably slow performance with Thunderbird 68,6.0 on my Dell T3600 workstation with 16 Gb ram and a fast processor. I have no such trouble on my Thinkpad laptops with 8/256 and 16/512 specs. Windows is up to date as is Thunderbird. I have followed many recommendations (exclude the antivirus exe in Windows defender, delete all .msf files and reset thunderbird, and so on). Some of these things seem to help briefly, and then Thunderbird reverts to Not Responding. It just did that now in the background when I was not using or touching Thunderbird at all. I hope there is some help for this. Thanks.

The following is the reason that the message was over quota:

      Quota Type: bytes in the mailbox
 Quota Available: 176.1KB
     Total Quota: 55000.0KB

A few days ago, after asking me for a donation, Thunderbird stopped displaying my e-mails. I get a "blank" e-mail frame, but my folders, recent messages, etc. do not display. I tried re-installing TB, and running in Safe Mode, to no avail. I thought perhaps it lost my account settings, but when I click on Tools > Account settings, I get nothing -- as if I didn't click at all.

Many options in the File, Edit, and Tools menus are grayed out. The menu button on the Quick Filter toolbar also is not functioning.

Any suggestions? Right now, not only have I lost all my e-mails, but I can't even view new ones!

Any help (or suggestions for other e-mail client apps) would be greatly appreciated.

My "collected addresses" have all disappeared. The autofill doesn't work for many of the most used addressed and I can't add back those deleted.

Right now nothing is in my Today Pane. If I do Events and Tasks > Tasks, I get a tasks tab and see my tasks but not in the pane. The tasks are Read Only. I just removed Lightning and restarted. Re-added and restarted. Oops! I expected the Today Pane to work and to get my tasks RW but the pane is blank so now it's worse than usual. Tasks used to work fine. I don't know with which version of Thunderbird this started. I have Windows 10, latest version and a standard Dell desktop of recent vintage.

Why does Thunderbird delete messages from my POP account Trash folder?

Occasionally, I discover messages are gone from the Trash folder. I keep deleted messages for six months. Today, I discovered all messages older than six days are gone. Perhaps Thunderbird emptied Trash six days ago, but I didn't notice then

Retention is "Don't delete any messages". "Empty Trash on Exit" is not checked.

I have tried following the instructions given re: fixing index files for the same problem that has been reported by several other users. I finally gave up and simply deleted the upper folder and sub-folders while in Thunderbird, then recreated the folders and things seem to be working for the moment. However I lost all the files that were in the folder originally. My concern is that I don't want this happening again, so I'd like to know if this problem is being addressed and fixed in subsequent updates of Thunderbird. I never encountered this issue in previous versions of the product. I recently installed the new version after having to re-install the operating system on my computer. Perhaps there is a way to go back to an older version of Thunderbird?

We have regular issue of indexing of inbox and local email folder and considerable time is taken in indexing (10 min to 30mins) before email can be seen n used.

We have disabled search n indexing option on the Thunderbird client but process of indexing happens on daily basis.

Email system used is Red Hat Linux 7.x and client are thinderbird and outlook. Issue of indexing slowness is seen only with Thinderbird client.

Pls support with known issues and solutions

Nord VPN lets me receive e-mails just fine, but since most recent updates of the VPN and/or Thunderbird I'm having this problem again. With VPN active, open Thunderbird. Incoming messages download just fine. Send first message, *then* Thunderbird hangs, and I have to force quit. This is Thunderbird 60.9.0 (64-bit) running on a mac under OS10.12.6, and using port 587 for SMTP. Thank you for your help, ---tad.
