Hello

every email i get from paypal includes the same (wrong) name in the correspondents column.

For example, I'll receive a payment from client "Bob Jones", but the correspondent column always says: "John Smith via paypal".

Paypal insists it's not them and suggested that I contact you.

Any ideas?

I am running an older version on another computer and it is working fine....all settings are the same....on both computers....even my phone works....but this new version is stuck....

can I go back to the older version? help?

Just installed Thunderbird on a new laptop. However it will not send emails. The message is "Peer certificate issuer is not recognised". How is an 82 year old like me supposed to understand what that means? My server is btinternet. I've tried the fixes elsewhere on this forum but still I get the same message so I'm afraid Thunderbird is destined for the bin!

Hi I'm running Thunderbird 78.1.1 in Win10 v2004.

Today, the Unified Inbox has stopped displaying emails from the inboxes of all accounts. Further, when you click on (Unified) Inbox, as your mouse hovers over items in the incomplete list, all text disappears. When clicking on an item, it does not show-up in the reading pane.

Yesterday, I did move the location of local folders, but this went smoothly and all emails are visible. Thunderbird was working fine. No updates had been installed overnight, but since the issue occurred, I have updated windows from 1906 (I think) to 2004. But this has not solved the issue.

Reading past posts from 2015, there seems to be a way of deleting folders form the profile folder to force Thunderbird to recreate the unified folders, but the guidelines were out of date.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Sometimes when I try to create a subfolder nothing happens. I tried a few times but still nothing. Then I created a folder called Test and it worked. Then I tried to rename Test to my real name it says that one already exists, but it doesn't show on the list. Is there a way to find the subfolders that exist but don't show, so I can get rid of them? And why is it letting me create some but not others?

I used Thunderbird for a while, suddenly after restarting thunderbird appears blank. No e-mails are displayed. Most of the UI is not visible. Please see screenshot attached.

A click on the button with the three lines to go to settings does not trigger any reaction.

First workaround was to backup Profile, uninstall thunderbird, reinstall thunderbird, copy Profile to Thunderbild App-Folder (%appdata%). After a while, the same thing happened again.

I use Windows 10.

Hey!

I have problem viewing junk (spam) messages for all accounts in unified folders mode. It doesn't show anything for this folder: https://take.ms/D0pbO but it shows messages when I select specific account under that global Junk folder.

How can I fix that? I want to check all spam on one screen for all my accounts. Thanks for the help!

After an extraordinary amount of testing, I can conclude that Thunderbird is placing linebreaks inappropriately in emails sent from Thunderbird.

In other forum posts, I saw these described as "soft" line breaks that email clients could ignore, but in my testing, Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook/Office 365 all display these false line breaks (in both webmail and mobile apps). In fact, the only email clients that did not display these false line breaks were Outlook 2016 (Windows 10) and Thunderbird (Windows/macOS).

The issue is that Thunderbird is inserting these line breaks where the line changes in the view of the composer. This is an arbitrary line that really serves no obvious purpose, given the thousands of possible variations in screen sizes on mobile or desktop?

Toggling between sending in HTML or plain text seems to not have an impact in resolving this issue, and neither does switching between "Paragraph" or "Body Text" modes.

Example images are attached of how this looks.

Any hope for a resolution on this issue? (via Extension or correction by the developers?)

thunderbird 78 HANGING. safe mode works

since being automatically "upgraded" to 78, my thunderbird has become a nightmare. most extremely useful extensions were broken + thunderbird hangs more than it functions.

when i discovered i couldn't revert to 68 i disabled all add-ons, including 'provider for google calendar', + had to reload my calendars <6> as calDAV.

with all extensions disabled it hangs 90% of the time, allowing tiny windows of time when it is responsive.

i have used thunderbird since version 3 + never had issues like this

the error console consistently reports 6 errors; 5 regarding "L10nRegistry.jsm" <no idea what this is> 1 regarding "search-extensions/twitter/manifest.json"

safe mode works ok, normal mode with all extensions disabled doesn't

any advice would be very much appreciated thanks

Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent) due to network or file access errors. You can retry or save the message locally to Local Folders/Sent

This message pops up: Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent) due to network or file access errors. You can retry or save the message locally to Local Folders/Sent It is a problem occurring only with our company's mail provider. The thing is it work just fine know it seems i can't even get any messages.

This is kind of urgent because i cannot work like this.

Please if you could help with any suggestions. Thanks a lot.

Version 68.12.1 on Windows 10 I know the exact subject of the email, I have sent it to myself a month ago. I type "upgrade m1" with quote marks on the top global search bar and I get all kind of junk with the word "upgrade" that are mainly spams. If I scroll back manually I can locate the email with the same subject in my inbox. I have rebuilt the search cache already.

Any suggestion?

Hello:

For a few months, I have seen that Thunderbird sometimes takes a long time to send emails. When I press the "send" button, in the bottom bar it says "Assembling the mail information ..." and it remains for about 40-50 seconds. Afterwards it sends the email but meanwhile Thunderbird freezes and nothing can be done. If I send several emails in a raw, this problem arises only when sending the first one.

I have Thunderbird 78.2.2 installed but the problem comes from version 68. When I installed TB78 I installed it from the very begining, uninstalling TB68 completely. I have tried starting Thunderbird with disabling all the add-ons but the problem persists. It does not matter if it is a new email or or if I am replaying to another one and it happens to me both when it has attachments and when it does not have any of them. I have a gmail account configured by IMAP and the operating system is Windows 7. I also tryed to disable the antivirus.

I would appreciate if someone could help me or could give me a clue. Thank you very much!!!

Running TB 78.3.1 32 bit on Windows 10 64 bit. Ever since I have upgraded to 78 I have had the same problem: unless I run in Safe Mode, the windows of folder (eg inbox, junk...) contents do not refresh when I select a different folder. If I move the mouse pointer over the window contents, then the relevant lines that the mouse pointer is over are revealed, but not otherwise.

This still happens when add-ons (which I don't actually have many of - only add-on is a dictionary) are disabled. Only Safe Mode fixes it.

Any suggestions for how to fix this? I have already reset toolbars and controls - no difference

to start Thunderbird using the profile given in the TargetPATH.

But after todays update 78.2.2, this feature does not work on my mac MacOS 10.15.6

When using this command line, thunderbird opens but without any content.

How to do now a command line start of Thunderbird on a target profile?

For the past 2 weeks or so, I have received 2 types of error messages on sending from Thunderbird through gmail. I have used this combination of email software for 20 years or so. My wife has similar messages (one of them). I have not changed my email address or my password or my outgoing server (smtp) set up until these error messages occured. The early error message was (I am retyping it): "Sending of the message failed. Failed due to unexpected error 80004005. No description is available. The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that you Outgoing server (SMTP) setting are correct and try again."

Then I changed to my current SMTP settings below. However tonight, I again received the error message above and the new one below that my wife received. Her SMTP settings are the same as mine except for account specific information.

"Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server(SMTP) smtp.gmail.com timed out. Try again."

Inevitably, if you retry enough, messages would get sent. If you sent the same message, from Gmail webmail, there were no errors. My outgoing server settings are:

Account Name: LLangInbox@gmail.com Your (My) Name: Larry Lang Email Address: LLangInbox@gmail.com Outgoing Server (SMTP Settings): Details of selected server: Description: Gmail2 Server Name: smtp.gmail.com Port: 465 User Name: LLangInbox@gmail.com Authentication method: OAuth2 (this was revised with the first error message) Connection: SSL/TLS

I just allowed Thunderbird to set a new POP account with an alias name I only have used on webmail. The outgoing serve entries are the same that I am currently using.

Neither the default URL (or any other URL) appear in the start page when I launch Thunderbird; it remains blank. Also, the contents of an email message do not appear in the Message Pane when selected; it remains blank. If I try to open an email message in a new tab, the new tab remains blank. I can only open to read an email message in a new window.

I am running Thunderbird 78.3.1 (64-bit) on Mac, Catalina 10.15.7. Any advice how to fix this?

I have Firefox version 80.0 installed and Thunderbird version 68 email app to view my email. All was working fine.---I click on Moz T-Bird logo on my Dell Windows 7 desktop computer and a screen appears showing all mail and folders, but now I cannot receive nor send any email. If I click on INBOX, I get a blue revolving circle that continues indefinitely without a message. If I click on SEND message, I receive a message which states: Peer using unsupported version of security protocol. The configuration related to mail.brainstorminternet.net must be corrected. I can log in to my ISP provider website which provides a web-based email interface and then log-in to view my mail. I called the company and checked to see if the IMAP was correct. It was. Hopefully you can offer some suggestions as to resolving this problem.
